And how Wright is as much a rhythm player as the "rhythm section". The build up and then delay of release is great fun throughout too.

To my ears it's very original, I can't think of any obvious direct precursor, influences yes as you identify

That's right. He does a sort of RnB one note rhythmic honk that builds excitement and rhythm. (At least he does on tracks two and three, that's as far as I have got.)
