Is it possible that I saw him live with the Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Big Band ? I think HE was the pianist.

Yes.  McNeely was in the Jones-Lewis band for a long while.  :tup

I didn't remember that Elvin was a foot taller than everyone else.

I was thinking the same.  :P

That´s the edition of the band I saw live. Very fine.
I had the album but it seems I lost it or had borrowed it to someone and didn´t get it back, I can´t remember what had happened, but I remember the music. As much as I remember, it didn´t reach the same power the live concerts had.

I dismissed this at the time, thinking it was part of the then-burgeoning jazz subgenre of 'theoretically young 30 year old impresses old people by doing supposedly young thing that the old people don't know is out of date'. It does have some of the trappings, like the subpar hip hop, but on revisiting it, I enjoy it quite a lot more than I did.

Bob Dylan “The Bootleg Series Vol. 17: Fragments – Time Out of Mind Sessions (1996–1997)”

This is a fascinating box set. I’m listening to the remix of “Time Out of Mind” in this set at the moment. This opinion runs contrary to most that I read but I prefer the original mix. . . though I can like this one as an alternate window into the music. The original has a magic that drew me in and revived interest in Dylan’s music for me though, it will always live in my heart as a masterwork.

This was mislaid for a while and I found it under my listening chair!

A funky remake of a classic Chico Barque album with amazing trombone! By the daughter of Joyce and Nelson Angelo, quite a family background.
