I have all those Bud Freeman Chronogical Classics--great music!

“Bill Evans in England” Resonance Records 2 cd set, disc 1

I haven’t played this one in a while, and as a new RSD release (I go for the cd that comes out usually a week afterwards) is due, it seemed a good pick to start this cold morning (snow on the ground again!)

I see a Bill Evans recording and get a sense I know it. . . and each time I do listen I find surprises, big and little, in the performance, arrangement, sound. . . a great thing.

Especially it seems lately as the system shines so brightly.

That one has rewarded repeated listens.  Took quite a few before I filed it.

Kenny Clarke Francy Boland big Band Complete live recordings at Ronnie Scott’s. Volcano and Rue Chaptal. Great CD, the band is on top form.

I hope I am mishearing but someone utters something way beyond the pale before track 1.

All About Rosie

Great stuff! I almost think I willed this CD into existence. Way outa print by the time I hipped to it, but I found it  years later in a box at a used record store much later. It was meant for me!

Arrived today:

Haven't heard the music, but that album cover is badasss.

Very much like the Keith Jarrett/Gary Peacock/Jack DeJohnette trio music.

Sweet. That I dig.

There's a live release with the same trio from the same year that is very good as well.

Felt like listening to some Pig Pen. . . this is a great choice for that.

This one's a masterpiece, imo.

It's been my most listened to album of 2025.  I play the Tone Poet a lot and often listen to the album on my nightly walk.  Definitely a masterpiece.
