This was the first hit from Google, which actually autotyped the last word of my query:

Art Blakey et les Jazz-Messengers au club St. Germain - Wikipedia

That's the one. Didn't see a US release of any kind until 1992 on RCA Bluebird as Paris 1958 and then just as a single disc.

This is the session that Benny Golson recounts as showing up for the gig and seeing recording microphones set up, asking Blakey what was up with that, and never getting a straight answer - or any extra money.

Maybe that was one reason for the fire, along with Hazel Scott!

This is funny! I grew up in nearby Evanston (IL) and the song title has always cracked me up.

I've always thought of that town too (because I grew up in Chicago and it's environs), but there's a good reason because it actually does refer to that town. It was kind of an impromptu thing that happened one night at The Blackhawk in Chicago.

It's a great date, but like I said, unissued here until 1992, and not well known domestically. Maybe the allegedly surreptitious nature of the original recording held it back here? But internationally it's had a good run.

Well worth scoping out and imo the best representation of that edition of the Messengers on record

Make mine Chico!!!

Derek And The Ruins (Derek Bailey, Masuda Ryuichi and Yoshida Tatsuya) – Saisoro

A long time since I revisited this one (thanks to Tzadik now being on streaming services). Great record. One of Bailey's most successful of the later pairings.

A cool still morning. Going to be a beautiful day!

Starting off with

Lauren Henderson “Sombras” Brontosaurus Music cd

This is the first I’ve heard Ms Henderson, bought because Joel Ross is part of the supporting quartet. Wow, what a graceful phrasing and voice that draws one in. Such a pity her other albums are so expensive to collect!

And now

Donna Fuller (with Pete Rugolo and his Orchestra) “My Foolish Heart” Liberty TOCJ Japan Super Bit Jazz Classic lp facsimile cd

From 1957. Nice sounding disc!

This one is a really great record. Rava really worked magic on ECM.

Yes, they're all strong, some great players with him too, although I wasn't so taken by the Jackson tribute
