A rainy morning. Doesn’t bode well for our outdoor event this afternoon but we’re going with fresh signs.

One of my favorite “tribute” albums to Monk. The ringer original “Blue Hawk” is excellent.

Tim Warfield :Spherical–Dedicated to Thelonious Sphere Monk" Criss Cross cd. This is where I first was impressed with Orrin Evans’ playing.

Just back from a local protest event and surprisingly the rain (though forecast) went away and there were about 700 persons . . . really felt good to be in the midst of “like minds.” There were two instances of unsuccessful “agitation.” A great event.

Re-listening to this one as it was still in the transport and . . . it’s really good.

I am a jet lagged mess today but I found it extremely good. All the greats of Nordic jazz are on it but none were yet greats. It is basically a very good euro-jazz record of its era (stew together Electric Miles, free jazz and modal stuff) with some very sibilant Norwegian poetry over parts of it.
