At least no snow on the horizon for the rest of the week. I started the day with Paula Morelenbaum “Berimbaum”–one of my absolute favorite recordings. It has it all. And then on to one of my favorites in the Toshiba TOCJ 24 bit by RVG series, Pete La Roca “Basra” Awesome band and performances. Basra is magnificent 😍 Quote
jazzbo Posted yesterday at 04:02 PM Report Posted yesterday at 04:02 PM I’m listening to the 1955 George Wettling material from this box set: Which first appeared on: “George Wettling’s High Fidelity Rhythms” Weathers Industries LP Quote

Niko Posted 21 hours ago Report Posted 21 hours ago one of the more surprising things in Iverson's fine post is the claim that Masabumi Kikuchi was only really good after 2000... so much of his work in the 90s is magnificient imho... but there's also awesome stuff from the 60s, especially the 70s, and the 80s... such as this album here Quote

jazzbo Posted 20 hours ago Report Posted 20 hours ago Tizian Jost Trio “United in the Big Blue” Enja/Muzak Japan lp facsimile HQCD I bought this one because it was way cheap and I really like the sound of Muzak mastering of cds . . . and it’s quite a nice piano trio date. 300×300 15.5 KB Quote
Niko Posted 20 hours ago Report Posted 20 hours ago Tizian Jost's claim to fame is that he was the last pianist of Günther Klatt, one of Germany's greatest talents on tenor... here you can see a nice documentary on Klatt, including remembrances by Marty Cook and people from Enja... https://olatv.de/film-serie/film-der-woche-guenther-klatt-maler-und-musiker/ Quote

Is this the record from Montmatre with that fine version of "Like Someone in Love" in Ab ? With that really fine recorded cymbal sound from Tootie Heath. I think I have it and it´s titled somethings like "Montmatre Collection" though its not a collection, just one album with I think 4 tunes, among them also Body and Soul, the others I think is some medium or fast tempo blues....., Kenny Drew is on Piano, that´s sure, and Tootie Heath on drums, and maybe NHOP on bass but that ist not hard to guess, he seemed to be an all records that were made in Danemarca in those years 1960´s, 1970´...... jazzbo Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago Brr. It’s cold out there. Inside it’s nice. Starting off with another great piano trio recording on Muzak Japan cd. Del Ferro on piano, keyboard, and Fender Rhodes, Andre Vasconcellos on acoustic and electric bass, and Marcio Bahia on drums. Mike Del Ferro “Made In Brazil” Samui International/Muzak Japan cd (My copy has a different cover for which I have not found an image). Quote
jazzbo Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago Eliane Elias "Plays Live" Blue Note cd My copy of this has been missing for a while. I finally found it mixed in with some of Lucinda's cds. One of my favorite of Eliane's releases (I think I have them all!) Quote
