Re-listening to a lot of stuff I hadn't listened to in a long while this 1993 album surprised me because I  had thought of Stamm as essentially a first-call section man. Yes, he's that but also a fluent, inventive soloist with, of course, chops to burn, though he doesn't flaunt them unduly. Lineup is reedmen Bob Mintzer and Bob Malach, Bill Charlap, Mike Richmond, and Terry Clarke.

Remember seeing him with a small group circa 1993/94. Fine player.

Working on a show about Milt Jackson’s Riverside recordings. Some nice work on this album by Tadd Dameron and Ernie Wilkins:

French pianist is with visiting Kentonites, who included Britain's own Don Rendell, whom I saw many times and who plays some lovely lazy Lesterish tenor here.

Masahiko Sato and Toshiyuki Miyama & His New Herd - Nayutagenjo (Columbia Japan, 1976)
All compositions and arrangements by Sato.  Strange, otherworldly music.

This Norwegian one has got a reissue recently so I thought I'd give it a stream. Very impressive.

I think I'll give that a listen too.  :tup
