Rabshakeh Posted Sunday at 09:57 AM Posted Sunday at 09:57 AM The Jazz Crusaders – Lighthouse '69 Esperanza Spalding – Songwrights Apothecary Lab Second listen to this. The only thing that I can find in its defence is that it is inadvertantly quite funny that music that is this rubbish should nonetheless come packaged with such preening self regard. Quote
jazzbo Posted Sunday at 10:37 AM Posted Sunday at 10:37 AM (edited) Now, more of that band that plays the blues. . . . “The Complete Woody Herman Decca, Mars and MGM Sessions (1943-1954)” Mosaic Records 7 disc box set, cd VI I’m glad I am re-visiting this set, great music, great sound. Last disc to revisit. I understand those who are not crazy about Woddy’s singing–I used to be among them. But I’ve fallen for his phrasing and his real jazz sensibility in vocals–to me they are closely alligned to his excellent clarinet and sax playing. And the microphones really bring out his tone very well. Edited Sunday at 10:37 AM by jazzbo Quote
