Multiple Facebook sources report the passing of bassist Bob Cunningham this weekend.  Listening to Impressions of A Patch of Blue as we speak.

RIP, to a great bassist. I still remember seeing him dancing around with that percussion instrument he used to wear on his feet when he played with Clark Terry.

Whose album is "Impressions of a Patch of Blue"?

Oh, I just googled it. It was Walt Dickerson. Too bad he used Sun Ra on it. With the right pianist, it could've been a great LP.

Thats sad news.

I´ll always remember him, since I was very impressed by his playing when I saw and heard him with Archie Shepp in about 1979 (78 or 79). That was a helluva band, Shepp, Kessler, Cunningham and Clifford Jarvis......, the best he ever had.

I too wondered why I didn´t see him more, just that one gig with Shepp, but never forgot it. Really solid bass work.

Bob Cunningham played on Dizzy's  An Electrifying Evening, one of the first jazz records I bought, and still one of my favorite Dizzy's.

I first noticed him when he was in Yusef Lateef's quartet around 1970 - great bass player. R.I.P.
