Hardbopjazz Posted March 23, 2019 Report Posted March 23, 2019 I love this photo of Charlie Rouse and Sonny Clark. Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted March 23, 2019 Report Posted March 23, 2019 (edited) Somehow Sonny Clark looks like Prince's dad there (or Esquerita's somewhat more subdued cousin ) Edited March 23, 2019 by Big Beat Steve Quote

T.D. Posted March 23, 2019 Report Posted March 23, 2019 Damn. Looks (especially SC) like they could be members of the Sun Ra Arkestra in some weird alternate universe. Quote
jazzbo Posted March 23, 2019 Report Posted March 23, 2019 More like it belongs on an album called Pimpin' . . . . Quote

Shrdlu Posted March 24, 2019 Report Posted March 24, 2019 That pic was, of course, taken by Pannonica at her house in Weehawken, NJ. I have a book with many of her pics. I understand she had a cat. Quote

Shrdlu Posted March 27, 2019 Report Posted March 27, 2019 To Hardbopjazz, yes, that pic is in her book. (The title of the book is "Three Wishes") Quote

(The title of the book is "Three Wishes") Right, a also have this book. And it´s interesting to read what the musicians say about their personal "Three wishes". Some say really beautiful things, some are ugly (Al Haig), and some get lost in too many words, like Lionel Hampton, he just keeps talkin and talkin about how jazz started with cotton pickin´ and all that and you just can´t trace where he want´s to get, and what is his 3 wishes..... Shrdlu Posted March 31, 2019 Report Posted March 31, 2019 Also recommended: The bio of Nica, by her neice. My copy is borrowed, so I can't post the title here, but it's easy to find. Quote

Nobody would want (or lay claim to) this actual copy. Why wouldn't I (or anybody) be able to clearly indicate the title of a book that I's recommend even if my own copy that I am reading is one I have taken out from the library or have been lent by a friend or whatever so do not actually OWN a copy of my own? Daniel A Posted March 31, 2019 Report Posted March 31, 2019 Maybe because someone else borrowed his copy, and he can't recall the title? Quote
