RIP.  Impressive discography (show below from Wikipedia, ranges from Sonny Stitt to Alan Shorter), and never disappointed to my ears:

Discography[edit]

As leader/co-leader

Notable omissions at the first glance .... :

Al Haig Trio "Blue Manhattan" (Bopland/Interplay)                      1984

Michel Sardaby Trio "Night In Paris" (Universal France)             2004

Both excellent ....

That's sad. I was listening to that first Marion Brown ESP yesterday afternoon. The bass parts really stand out.

So was I.

First time I'd done so for a couple of years. I always spot the bass solo not only because of it's musicality but also because my LP gets a bit crackly at that point and I always think I need to upgrade.

Another great loss, as evidenced not least by felser's list up thread

Steve Grossman w. Barry Harris - Do It!

Steve Grossman and Harold Land - Confessin'

George Robert - Cape Verde

R.I.P.

Saw him play a few years ago here in town, but can't remember who the leader was. Reggie Johnson obviously made the more lasting impression. Great bass player.
