Did Muse ever reissue that Earl Hines concert on CD?  It's a great one. but one of many great albums by Earl Hines from that "comeback" phase of his career, so perhaps this one got overlooked?

I just checked discogs.  Looks like the music was issued digitally one time -- on a Vogue/Savoy CD in France:

There's no mention of a Muse CD issue.

Probably for the reason you said. There's no shortage of post-Little Theater/"comeback" recordings. ;)

Wow! Here's to that scenario replicating itself all over the world!

So I live in King of Prussia.  We have the largest shopping mall in the USA, in terms of number of stores (over 400).  Not one is a music or book store.

Hamiet Bluiett Quartet We Have Come To Save You From Yourselves (BOM 3501~2)

At last I found a mint copy from a reliable seller. I have been wanting this one for a long time now.

Yes, the India Navigation 2CD is so rare that the identical Japanese release was the more realistic though expensive option.

Just got back from a trip to Landlocked Music, Bloomington mecca for CD and vinyl lovers. Picked up the following:

Stan Getz, Getz At The Gate

Nicole Mitchell, Renegades (used)

John Lennon, Imagine (reissue, used)

Led Zeppelin, The Song Remains The Same (2007 reissue, used)

The Getz had been set aside at my request, the Lennon and Led Zep were titles I’ve trawled for used for quite some time, and the Nicole Mitchell was a random and unexpected find. Part of why I still love the record-store experience.

This CD has been on my list for a while. It's out-of-print, but I found it for a reasonable price on eBay.

I think this may have been Demidenko's debut recording.

👍A beauty for sure👍 ....

So, so incredibly happy with this!

I knew about this record (memorable title!), but I didn't realize that it was an ECM release.

Pim, do you have Waldron's records on Tutu?  I've always wanted to get them... but I've never heard any of them.

I think it was supposed to be the first ECM release but for some reason it was released by ‘Globe’. Do not exactly remember what the story was.

i’ve got three records on Tutu: Mal, Dance and Soul, Mal, Verve, Black & Blue and Quadrologue at Utopia vol.1. These are great sessions especially the last one mentioned: that one is steamin! Not as great as his ‘70’s and ‘80’s stuff but still: All very much worth having. I think most of it is still available for reasonable prices at Discogs.

👍Super catch👍 .... congrats !!

Thanks Soulpope!! I still cannot believe that this early ‘70’s stuff (Spanish Bitch, The Call, Reminiscent Suite) is so rare and  not reissued except for a Japanese vinyl reissue 40 years ago. This is absolutely unique and stunning music that’s deserves so much more recognition. And even now that these records got some of a ‘cult’ status by some collectors, there is still no reissue program. Plenty of Mal 1 reissues though 😂

I agree!  I've recommended these records to Mosaic for reissue several times. I think Waldron's Japanese Victor recordings would make a SUPERB set!  And there are so many others too.

No dice so far. :(

That would be a hell of a Mosaic set. And, looking on discogs, enough people would be very interested.

I have always understood that Mal had an almost rockstar status in Japan. This makes it even more that almost his full discography is out of print and quite a lot of records are hard to get.

Gefeliciteerd, Pim. Ik ben ook een liefhebber van Mal Waldron, maar duidelijk niet zoveel als jij!
