Milestones
After restarting my computer, Chrome has gone missing. I have no idea why this would happen. I have looked in Apps, I have looked in Trash--nowhere to be found. It's probably easy enough to reinstall Chrome. But all my Bookmarks are gone and would probably be gone permanently--we are talking about several hundred. Any advice?
sonnymax
What about a restart using your most recent backup prior to the disappearance? Knowing what kind of computer you're using and the OS might provide more detailed assistance.
Milestones
It's an Apple desktop using Monterey. I am not even a year into using the first Apple I have ever owned. The backup thing is tricky, as I tend to back up only Word Files and music files.
sonnymax
If you go here, what do you see? Macintosh HD > user > Library > Application Support > Google > Chrome > Default > Bookmarks and Bookmarks.bak Please consider using the Time Machine backup feature in the future. felser
f you're signed in to your Google account and have sync enabled, your bookmarks are safely stored in the cloud. These bookmarks can then be easily restored simply by logging back into your Google account on a reinstalled Chrome browser.Feb 25, 2024

mjzee
Or download Chrome again, then log into your account. Seems easy.
BFrank
Chrome didn't log in correctly on my Windows laptop today either. It was there, but none of my links signed in as usual. After I rebooted, everything was fine.
Milestones
So it may be an easy fix. I won't mess with it just yet. I will consult with my wife, who is better on Apple computers than I. But she has been busy with her ailing mother.
Milestones
We re-installed Chrome and everything is fine--bookmarks and all. The easy fix rarely works for me. This time it did!
Stompin at the Savoy
If you look around in Chrome you'll find Bookmark Manager. Look around in there and you'll find Export Bookmarks. Click it. It will create a file, a piece of html. Click the file and it will come up in whatever browser with all of your bookmarks listed as clickable links. Do this every now and then and you will never be worried about losing your bookmarks.
Kevin Bresnahan
I backup my bookmarks every now & then, similar to how I back up my photos & documents.
