Please share your impressions of the Stanley Cowell composition ("Photon...") when you get there.

Daniel,

"Photon" is a nice composition, more "straight ahead" than most of the material within that album, so that and its length may be the reason it was not included in the original release--certainly the quality of music and performance are not lacking.

I hope Amazon or somebody eventually offers a download of that track.  I'd pay my $1.29 or whatever to hear it.  Are there any huge differences (such as much longer running length) on any of the new alternate takes in the box.

Thanks, Lon.

I am tempted to get the set, mainly for the added material, and to some extent for everything else (remastering, liner notes, Cuscuna's last set etc). But what bothers me is that I know that I like to approach music by the original albums - which I already own - with original artwork and not split between discs. Hence, I fear that I will not play the set as much as I "should".

Just arrived (Italy) from Mark Sound - TYQ Music, Netherland. Great service.

Listening to disc 1, remastering is impressive.

I received my set yesterday from our Belgian store and played Photon. A very nice track indeed.

The collar looks similar to the one on the San Francisco cover, which I'd call a pale tan color. The turtleneck on the Inner Glow cover is yellowish but seems to be a different weave.

Back when Mosaic had all those Frank Wolff pictures available on their site, I downloaded them. There were several color shots of Bobby, however the turtleneck only appeared on B/W photos.

Man, I’d forgotten what a strong record Happenings is. Relishing this set, which is inspiring me to revisit some other mid-1960s Blue Note records that I haven’t spun in many years. That particular era of the label sremains a sweet spot in my love of jazz.

Yes, I discovered this upon revisiting it a couple years ago. For whatever reason I remembered Happenings to be a little slight, and Oblique to be the stronger of the two. I found that I had it completely flipped. There's some very deep & outre stuff on there!

The sound quality of this Hutcherson set is really good. I don't have any of the LPs to compare to, but compared to some of the previous CDs, the sound is much more pleasant.

Just ordered the Hutcherson set from TYQ. I have most of the music on LPs and older CDs but it will be great to have the best CD masterings on one set, plus the additional tracks. I really like these Mosaic Blue Note sets and it is sad that there will be no more of them initiated and supported by Mr Cuscuna.

I was really tempted with the new Vanguard set but that will have to wait !
