Muse Masters - reissue series

Looks like Muse are now getting the deluxe reissue treatment. Vinyl only by the looks of things, please don't shoot the messenger...

Ricky Ford has 7 Muse LPs that have never been released on CD ever.

A couple of good 70's Charles Earland LP's, some good Joe Bonner albums, some primo Don Patterson, and an Eric Kloss LP with Hannibal Peterson are high on my list if they ever offer them on CD or reasonably priced digital.

Ltd Edition vinyl, I bet $30 is their price point and it would have to be some unknown and impossible to find release that they would ever get anything from me.

And of all the recordings to choose from at the start, its the Roy Brooks again? (Oh but its never been issued in this extra special, massively overpriced vinyl!)

I got most of it already, in some form or fashion. All that I want, anyway. Most all of it anyway.

Same here, but it would be nice to upgrade from old CD-R burns from questionable sources.  But no interest in $32.98 vinyl.

I will pick and choose.  Some of the Muse pressings were crappy.  Wonder how they will fund this without a dozen Bill Evans albums paving the path?

Maybe. How many more times am I going to listen to any real number of them again?

That’s very cool. Unfortunately the Muse catalog got neglected for long by the vinyl revival. I think I now have most of the stuff I want but we’ll see. They’ll do some Clifford Jordan and Woody Shaw for sure.

I would pay for a CD upgrade of this one, my all-time favorite jazz album, especially with the Mosaic box bonus cut:

My current version is on this.  I cashed in on my Mosaic box, a decision I have mixed feelings about.   There's so much that could be done with the Muse catalog.

The Muse catalog is very large, catalog numbers 5501-5568, so over 500 releases more or less.

Kevin,

Have you heard the 32 Jazz CD compilation titled Ricky's Choice?  If not, you might want to give it a try.

It's not one for purists, perhaps -- since it's a comp.  That said, I think it's more convincing as a listening experience than any of the individual Muse albums.  It skims the cream off the top, so to speak.

And somehow it seems a little more legit since Ford picked the cuts.

32Jazz did a Carlos Garnett comp from his five albums, and the runtime was only 40 minutes, 1/3 of which was 'Taurus Woman' 😟
