I like the sunrise is an instrumental version of the take used on the Liberian Suite Lp. For the LP the vocal was dubbed over. Most if not all V-discs were issued on various Classics CD's. Thanks to V-discs we have the never completely recorded Deep South Suite. The Ellington V-Discs are on the set below, which may be hard to find and it includes the excellent Deep South Suite. Ellington's band did not participate in any V-Disc recording sessions and that's why there are no Ellington V-Discs on this new Mosaic set. I believe the "In the Sjhade of the Old Apple Tree" is from a World Broadcast session and it's one of my favorite Ellington arrangements. The Jazzology label has a 5 cd series that includes everythning (lots of alternates) that Ellington recorded for World Broadcasting. https://www.amazon.com/V-Disc-Recordings-Duke-Ellington/dp/B00000IIT6/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1EB4B6YVZ1PFX&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.s9LF8A-_jJJ_9CQVxB08-E0rtaquR9wJeN7PTaDShv_9967VSGJx734k-CYfVskMUeYT0TwqDCXS977BvcdDOe7fcXJc430Ovwb2T_9EV-hjpOgZpBylntijTntKvACg.Vc6qKV7PjmUYig-ftlH4d81LT5Dw6iv3c-A8ZNbl8Ss&dib_tag=se&keywords=Duke+ellington+v-disc&qid=1765978205&sprefix=duke+ellington+v-disc%2Caps%2C87&sr=8-4 Quote

miles65 Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago A Carnegie Hall concert from November 23, 1946. First issued on a Italian lp on the Queen label. The four non V-disc tracks from that concert have never been reissued since. Quote
jazzbo Posted 13 hours ago Report Posted 13 hours ago I have the V-Disc box set and the Transcription five volumes so I'm covered (which as an Ellington nut makes me feel good). Quote
