  1. just checked my database & between 1995 & 2008 & picked up 101 BN Connoisseurs & have parted with 20 of those over the years (upgraded to RVGs, JBNLTs, JSHMs) My fav series was the BN 10"s doubles plus a shout out for Elmo Hope's Trio & Quintet sessions (BN & PJ) Overall the complete series had a profound impact on my listening thanks to Michael C
  2. I may have misrepresented my description above - the SQ of the set is excellent - I was referring to the name of the company ie MIG - "Made In Germany" as being pedestrian
  3. One of the long awaited (IMHO) digital releases has been Friedrich Gulda's "Nachricht Vom Lande" double LP originally on the German Brain label (Neu!, Guru Guru, Harmonia etc). A significant release in the Cecil Taylor discography but also includes Albert Mangelsdorff, John Surman, Barre Phillips, Stu Martin & Ursula Anders The festival (Tage Freier Musik) recorded over 4 days in August '76 at the Moosham Castle in Austria has been released as a double CD on the pedestrian sounding German label MIG (made in Germany) - appears to be associated with the Moosicus label A thunderstorm added to (or detracted) the ambiance of some of the recordings, hence the title of one track Mooshamer Begegnungen (Fortsetzung) "Das Gewitter" (Moosham Encounters (continued): The Thunderstorm Phillip Freeman discusses this release in his recent CT publication (p 166-169) BTW, Cecil Taylor also perfomed a solo concert during (Aug 20) at this festival, the full version released on CD ("Air Above Mountains")
  4. Best of the 40-42 Blanton-Webster Sessions (including the small groups)- 4CD set released in 2024 - best sounding versions so far, exceeding the big box masterings (puts them to shame). Source material being pristine 78s with outstanding SQ. Contains 94 tracks from this period (the RCA box had 140 tracks ie alternate takes etc) Evan Parker's Collected Solos - rerelease by Otoroku - a truly beautiful set contains Saxophone Solos, Monoceros, The Snake Decides, Six of One plus the cassette of extra material from the Saxophone Solo sessions - replicates the original Incus release
  5. +1 for Kaoru & add the Abe 7CD "1970-1973" set on the Japanese Youth label (originally PSF releases)
  6. Saw the same lineup a few months back here in Brisbane (Australia) - one of the best concerts I've seen. Vast majority of the audience were 20-30 year olds & so into it!.
  7. This box is a Booker Little goldmine (similarly the Wynton Kelly Mosaic)
  8. second that - bought my copy on first release in 1995 - can't believe that's 30 years ago Contains the rarer "Closet Mix" of their third LP & an unreleased VU demo tape from 1965 (not subsequently released on later multi CD sets)
  9. Thanks a million James - been waiting for this
  10. Good news - got this response from Moers today Hi, Thank you for reaching out and for your order. We kindly ask for a bit of patience – international shipments to Australia can take some time, especially with customs processing and longer transit routes. Your records are on their way, and we expect them to arrive within the usual international delivery timeframe. If there are any unexpected delays, please don’t hesitate to contact us again. We truly appreciate your understanding and are always happy to assist. Best regards, Best Tristan Hennen ______________ Moers Music An der Schneckull 21 47445 Moers
  11. Until recently I thought the label was extinct but was surprised to find it still functioning (effectively?). Do they really have the Parker/Lytton Ra LP in stock?
  12. thanks for the encouraging comment
