Anyone for Art Clokey proto-Gumby jazz performed by the Mel Powell trio found this The jazz music on Art Clokey's short film Gumbasia was the drum-dominated instrumental "Don-Que-Dee" by The Mel Powell Trio. This 1954 recording by the trio accompanied the claymation film, helping Art Clokey secure the funding needed to produce the first Gumby short.

one of my fav Lacy sets - when I met him after a concert here in Brisbane in the late 90s IIRC he actually brought up Irene & praised her performances - actually, I've never had an issue with her vocals.

These mono audio recordings are of listenable audio quality; they feature powerful Coltrane solos (particularly his cadenza on "I Want To Talk About You") and deserve to be released through official channels.

according to The Coltrane Reference (p683), JC played unaccompanied piano during the intermission - there's a lot of talking in the background of the recording but the piano is very audible - it's a fascinating listen

I thought he passed years ago - was introduced to him in the 70s - what an innings, 97 My fav recording of his was The Masochism Tango, hearing it first via an Australian band "Captain Matchbox" version in the early 70s Also remember seeing his 10" LPs at various friends parents houses in the past from WIKI In 1960, Lehrer essentially retired from touring in the U.S.[2] The same year, he toured Australia and New Zealand, performing a total of 33 concerts to great acclaim[38] and controversy.[49] While in New Zealand, he penned lyrics critical of the All Blacks' upcoming tour of Apartheid-era South Africa and Prime Minister Walter Nash's stance on it.[50][51] Lehrer's tours occurred during a time in which he was, he said, "banned, censored, mentioned in several houses of parliament and threatened with arrest." In particular, "Be Prepared" drew advance resistance in Brisbane from the commissioner of police. He performed several songs in Australia that were still unreleased, including "The Masochism Tango."[31]

just checked my database & between 1995 & 2008 & picked up 101 BN Connoisseurs & have parted with 20 of those over the years (upgraded to RVGs, JBNLTs, JSHMs) My fav series was the BN 10"s doubles plus a shout out for Elmo Hope's Trio & Quintet sessions (BN & PJ) Overall the complete series had a profound impact on my listening thanks to Michael C
