  1. Thanks for pointing these out... I just grabbed the Carmell Jones for $35 shipped.
  2. I completely agree with the watch list comments. Anyone remotely serious about bidding on an auction is either going to A) immediately place an initial bit (thus keeping the auction on their radar until its conclusion) or B) add it to their watch list and keep an eye on the price. So it becomes a matter of getting your auction noticed. The luck is in attracting two or more people who will bid the item up because they really want it, versus people who will place a minimum (or very slightly above minimum) bid because they are hoping for a great deal. When I consider auctioning CDs, I'm particularly paranoid about another seller listing the same item for sale before my auction closes. You see this a lot with Mosaics, right? I theorize that bidders will back off a potential bidding war on the first auction because they know there's another auction they can fall back on for the same item. Do any others sellers share my paranoia or conversely think it doesn't make any difference?
  3. I may be shooting myself in the foot, you might have some Mosaics I want, but consider ending your auctions on Sunday evening (or at least a weekend evening), say 9:30-10:00PM EST. You'll get more activity in the hours prior to the auction ending. (I believe eBay suggests that this is the best time to end auctions in its "How to Sell" section.) For example, I just recently won a mint condition McLean Mosaic for just $52 when 2 similar sets each went for around $120 just weeks before. The ad was well constructed overall; there was nothing to raise a red flag or cause it to go unnoticed. My good fortune aside, I attribute this to the fact that the auction ended at 9:00 AM CST on a Friday. There was essentially no activity in the closing hours of the auction… it was a workday and most folks can't monitor auctions from the office. Just my two cents.
  4. There's a guy by the name of Tom Marcello who posted some amazing pics he took over on the Jazzcorner site including several of Braxton. Here's the thread: 52nd Street Jazz Fair - July 6, 1976 and other photos It appears Tom is an active member of this board too… he posted over on the Muntu box thread that some of his photos were used in that release. Muntu 3 disc reissue Tom - If you notice this post, great stuff... I've really enjoyed the photos you've shared!
  5. I see still used copies of disc #1 in secondhand shops all the time. There was one on Ebay last week that went unpurchased too.
  6. I've been kicking around the idea of trading my Anita O'Day set for Mosaic(s) of like value. It's in like-new condition, a "Last Chance" purchase that I never really warmed to enough for it to receive regular play. PM me if interested and maybe we can work something out.
  7. It's been quite some time since I last visited the board. Wow, so many catalog deletions over the past few months. While hunting around for a few deleted items I noticed there's a used copy of the Nessa Art Ensemble box at Reckless Records. I figure someone will appreciate a chance to get a hold of this OOP gem. Art Ensemble 67/68 box (5 CDs) Nessa
  8. \ .....and on the 30th (Saturday night), the special guest will be Henry Grimes....!!! That Saturday show just keeps getting better and better... I'm there!
  9. The two Mujician discs are very good, Ghostly Thoughts (Hat) too (especially for Phil Gibbs' guitar work). Start there, though GT is way OOP and potentially difficult or expensive to locate. There are several Dunmall threads over on Jazzcorner, I'm sure a search will turn those up. Here's one with some good info: Dunmall recs on Jazzcorner Did anyone catch the Dunmall/Grimes/Cyrille show at Vision Fest? ... Maybe Mark Sheldon? ... would've liked to have seen that show.
  10. Ayler doesn't ever update their website with sale prices. Just send payment by PayPal and Jan will hook you up. Shipping is surprisingly quick from Sweden in my experience.
  11. Oh, that's right ... I completely forgot about the duplication in the Revenant box (and I have the box too). The clearance makes sense now. And I agree, it is a shame.
  12. DG will almost certainly have the best price - They sell Ogun's cheaper than anyone else I've come across. If you haven't already just open an account on the DG site and add it to your wish list. They'll send you an email as soon as it's available to purchase. Of course, you (and everyone else on this board) probably already know this, but just in case.

  14. My wife and I will be arriving Friday - our first jazz fest too.
  15. I got a call from a buddy over at CD Source last weekend to tell me they'd just acquired a bunch of OOP JRVGs and TOCJs. Are you the one that did the selling? If not, must be something the air around here.
  16. Oh, and Alefest on Saturday afternoon. Alefest Chicago
  17. I'll be in Chicago this weekend too. For me it'll probably be Dawkins/Anderson on Friday and then maybe Tortoise at the Empty Bottle on Saturday.
  18. You're probably going to need a UK hook-up. I remember reading a while back (perhaps in the Funny Rat thread) that someone was able to pick up a partial set plus a cd-r to fill the missing pieces directly from Hazel Miller. A web search should turn up her contact info.
  19. Secrets of the Sun is one you mentioned, and What's New and Out There A Minute (which has been on CD in the past and may be from the same sessions as Secrets of the Sun) come to mind.
  20. The two I listen to most are In Sweden and Sweet Rain followed closely by the Mosaic with Raney.
  21. We chose Sam Cooke's "You Send Me" for our first dance.
  22. Sorry - I fixed the link in my post.
  23. I'll put a plug in for Zu... not really jazz (at least not most of the time) but hey, the title of the thread is "Italian Music". The disc they made with Spaceways Incorporated is good stuff.
  24. Me too. I'd like to see those Cecil Taylors.
