Mark Weinstein - Latin Jazz Underground (Zoho, 2014)

I’m extremely impressed by this one. Flutes + piano trio (led by Aruan Ortiz, with Gerald Cleaver on drums) plus percussionist playing music with links to Andrew Hill.

Does anyone know anything about Ortiz or Weinstein? They’re new names to me.

When was it recorded ? I heard "Jumpin´Blues" by Dexter only in later years. It is on "American Classic" from 1982 and on the 60´s Birthday from Vanguard 1983.

I have that one too, one of the few Latin Jazz albums in my collection. I know nothing about the two musicians though, sorry. Good album.

Bobby Few is one of those pianists like John Hicks who you barely notice until the third or fourth listen, but who can single handedly elevate an album.

Not that I was expecting...might not be what anybody's expecting...the general audience response might be, uh, "interesting". But - there's one SEARING Wayne solo on here

1970 - with Wynton Kelly. Definitely 1A or 1B of the Prestige recordings (I think).
