I'm an epic four years late to this, but my friend Steuart Liebig was in this band. I really like Georgia Blue, but the line on this group is that they were transcendent in a live setting. It's great that this recording is still out there. (That entire YouTube channel is a treasure trove, incidentally.)

Joe Henderson - Consonance: Live at the Jazz Showcase
Niko replied to DougFelt's topic in New Releases
Re Rodby, he was in the houseband at the Jazz Showcase where he played with Art Pepper... In July 1977, Art Pepper took him with him to NY for that famous run at the Village Vanguard... Rodby played the Tuesday and Wednesday nights (not included in the box set) until he was replaced by George Mraz who appears on the recordings... According to the liner notes of the box, it was Elvin Jones who insisted on a different bassist... -
I've heard of that guy (I think). Looking forward to receiving my copy.

Agreed. According to information on Bandcamp, the New World issue is working from Jonathan Horwich's digital transfer.
-
Wilbur Campbell is an intriguing presence, so I'm in for it on CD.

This is a good film.

McCoys playing is great but I really dislike those voices

Season one. My wife doesnโt get it and I just keep laughing. A classic.

Just finished this one. Happen to be handling Spinoza with my students these weeks as well. Together with Nietzsche Spinoza is my big philosopher hero. He was about 300 years ahead of his time. To be honest I'd say a lot people could still learn a lot from him. Now I am almost finishing this one. I have a very weird paradoxally feeling with it: on one hand I think it's pretty boring, on the other hand I want to keep reading it and it's very relaxing to do so. Interesting stuff... From wednesday I will be in Ghana for 9 days with my students. This ones coming with me: I am really a rookie in African philosphy so time to dive into it. I am familiar with Achille Mbembe but it stops right there.

Reading the Kalevala for the first time. I'm not sure what I was expecting - probably more Ossian goes to Iceland. I wasn't expecting a wry Scandi Hiawatha. Really enjoying it in the Bosley translation.
