  1. Past hour
  2. So that’s Peter Brötzmann, Sonny Sharrock, Bill Laswell and Ronald Shannon Jackson
  3. Today
  4. I saw Rush several times when they were Rush. This band, less Peart, is not really Rush, as Eric Lifeson said when Peart died. Even if I wanted to see them, the ticket prices are insane.
  5. Great news about the 1969 concert! Someone should release Stuttgart 1966. SWR Jazzhaus would be the obvious choice, not sure they're still active though.
  6. I thought we had a good discussion about Huss Charles last year... And I also liked the detective work around the second tenor player or about what went wrong with the licencing of Palo Alto... Those discussions were not off topic when they happened... And I do think that these problems happen a bit too often to this particular producer - then again, he's quite productive ... Be all that as it may, what I wanted to say is this: a dedicated thread for negativity about Zev Feldman would not solve any problems, it might even create new ones.
  7. A little warmer, but wetter this morning. Hope the rain clears for important events today. Decided to play this great Don Goldie cd to start off the day. Don Goldie" Trumpet Caliente - Brilliant – Quintet Sextet" Fresh Sound cd. Those are both great sessions. 250×249 17.1 KB
  8. "The three authors, music writer Byron Coley and musicians Mats Gustafsson and Thurston Moore, share a life-long mutual obsession to record collecting with a distinct focus on the recorded history of Free Music". https://www.ecstaticpeace.net/now-jazz-now
  9. It’s mostly about other releases than the threads about plus: the Palo Alto and Stitt disasters have been mentioned and discussed a zillion times by now. Haven’t we reached the point where we could move on and talk about other stuff? Just my observations but hey if people want to sum up all his stupidities once again go ahead. I’ll grab my Zev Feldman is an idiot bingo card or read the other threads. Talking about other threads: anyone who feels like sharing how he dislikes Oscar Petersons playing? I have a a bingo card for that too
  10. Ocober 18 Esperanza Spalding - 1984
  11. 😂 - Saw the Cookers in Kassel. Yes, George Cables, Cecil McBee and Billy Hart are phantastic. Unfortunately, they only played two pieces as a trio ...
  12. Just another wow: The Core
  13. After 43 years, this track still stops me in my tracks: Hat and Beard
  14. Saw the Cookers tonight at SFJAZZ. Great show! I've seen them a number of times before, but they seemed especially energized tonight. It's been a while since I last saw them and there have been changes in the sax section. New members: Azar Lawrence and Craig Handy (who really brought the energy tonight!). Also, Eddie Henderson was not available tonight because of illness, and Mike Rodriguez (of the SFJAZZ Collective) filled in nicely. Can believe the Octogenarian rhythm section just keeps on playing like there's no tomorrow.
  15. The outsized ego might or might not deserve a separate thread but the QC issues like Denis Charles last year or the uncredited tenor player the year before are still best discussed in connection with the releases to which they belong...
