I don't consider that unusual by DG standards. I often check their "CD Deals" page and find a variety of Blue Notes, Prestige, OJC, ... Here's a link to today's (12 Mar 2026) deals, many from the above labels on the first page: https://www.dustygroove.com/new-cds-under-9

I'm not going to order any of these as Dusty's inventory isn't "live", so any orders that come in overnight don't move the CD to "Just Sold Out" until they manually update it when they open for business. Several times in the past, I've ordered CDs and gotten an E-mail saying it was sold the next day. It's happened a lot.

Billie Holiday “Lady in Satin” Centennial Edition, Columbia/Legacy 3 cd edition, disc 1 This is a sad album, I don’t play it often because. . . it was Billie’s last release and sad but powerful in its way, deserving of the praise and attention it reieeves. This three cd set has a lot of extras: outtakes, alternate takes, even a performance from Sound of Jazz. Also the presentation of the original release here sounds perhaps the best I’ve heard digitally.

I've read that too. His sound on Ballads and the Hartman date is not the sound one hears on Africa Brass, for example. I wonder what he did to his Otto Link? As far as adjusting the physical qualities of a mouthpiece, I thought the main practice was trying to increase the inner bore size, if just by millimeters. I know Steve Lacy did that with his soprano mouthpiece, and then used an alto ligature (which wouldn't affect the bore, but would allow the reed to vibrate more freely) in order to get the most open soprano sound possible. Back to rare-ish Japanese compilations, this one looks good: I would spin this comp!

Wondering if this amount of stock is out of line with Da Bastards usual number - which I suspect its not so probably just fair prices for items people might have missed or been unaware of.

Roach Om – Universal Expressions - Poetess Does anyone know anything about this record? Even the identity of the poet? She's not the greatest poet but it is very interesting to hear a jazz poet from this period take her lyrical approach, which is really quite different to most poets working in this area at the time. I had heard somewhere that the band might be Juju. Not sure what that is based on.

Of course there is no reason why other than the fact that baseball is most popular in the Americas, the Far East and maybe Australia. I will always prefer major sports that don't turn on Academy Award level acting to induce BS penalties. Will never comprehend soccer's appeal in the first place but the overlay of outright fraud involved in over-emotive flopping is ridiculous. I always compare it to the tradition in friendly tennis games to call lines in favor of your opponent unless you are completely certain it was out. Or, pre-Cyclops, the handful of players (I recall Gentleman Tim Mayotte especially) who would concede the next point if they had gotten an advantage from a bad line call.

I know a lot of players are into it but to me it’s not like the World Cup. That has significance.

The way the system sounds today made me want to hear this Tatum material again–it is so well mastered that listening to these three masters seems such a joy. Art Tatum “Jewels from the Treasure Box: The 1953 Chicago Blue Note Jazz Club Recordings” Resonance Records 3 cd set, disc 2

Something different. . . .June Christy wrapped up in that wonderful late 'fifties Capitol Records sound. June Christy “The Song is June” Capitol EMI Japan lp facsimile cd.
