  2. SEPTEMBER 25 Barbara Dennerlein - 1964
  3. Where da guitar, and what up wit dat bass intro?
  4. The great British acoustic bass player has passed at 86. He played with many of my fave folk/jazz artists like Pentangle (that was his great solo arco introduction to "Reflection"), and Nick Drake (that was him playing bass on "River Man" (even though he had trouble reading 5/4 with the orchestra, he said, "Bollocks, I'll make up my own part!") . He also played with artists as diverse as Tubby Hayes, Kate Bush, John Martyn and Richard Thompson and many others.

  6. There was some of these a few years before: Etc.
  7. Fri. night - David Sanchez: Carib
  8. Thatโ€™s an excellent question!!
  9. I'm reluctant to sell stuff -- even duplicates -- for that very reason. Coincidentally, Craft has reissued Amazonas in their "Jazz Dispensary" series. So you could easily obtain that one again. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  10. I have an extra copy if anyone in the US is interested. No OBI. $30 shipped OBO it is based on discogs this copy. https://www.discogs.com/release/14878397-Masabumi-Kikuchi-All-Night-All-Right-Off-White-Boogie-Band
  11. The photos on some of those Historical Series albums are sometimes...unique!! He's a happy fella, ain't he now!!!
  12. Thanks to everybody who replied and sorry for the late reply. I timed the track Kenny W played. It does run 4:48. I had looked at Losin's listing of Bird's recordings of "I Can't Get Started" before I posted, but when I saw that the only one he listed at Birdland runs only 1:09 I assumed he had missed the one that Kenny played. Seeing Phil Schaap's view is very helpful in understanding that there's a lot of uncertainty about this track.

  16. Go Guardians go! Future HOFer Jose Ramirez, Steven Kwan, and seven other โ€œbatsโ€ in witness protection. Scrappy as hell. Will eventually succumb to teams w much larger payrolls, but fun for now.
  17. I learned recently that sometime in the late 1950s or possibly very early 1960s, Nelson Riddle wrote some arrangements for Count Basie. These were apparently played live by the Basie band, but not recorded. In 1962, Riddle gave four of the arrangements to British Bandleader Vic Lewis, who recorded them for a UK EP titled Vic Lewis Swings Nelson Riddle. https://www.discogs.com/release/11391413-Vic-Lewis-Vic-Lewis-Swings-Nelson-Riddle?srsltid=AfmBOopYLbhLVZrSkgJZaU4aCj7trkcQH6EClXH1tvGTrgk8qT3xsv8J I can't find these on the InterTubes, but here is a recent live video of one of the arrangements.
  18. I must have played that LP a thousand times back then when it was new. Sold it several years ago to gain shelf space, as I had the CD. But now that I researched the discography of Tjader and was so much involved, I somehow regret I sold some of the LPs.
  19. Another old thing I found digging through some of my dad's old stuff. George Yarocki has been gone quite a while now too. George and my dad knew the ins & outs of those old Indian motorcycles like no one else. A lot of that knowledge is gone now.
