Too bad they made only a couple of records.

I once had a Japanese LP of the Blue Note but sold it when the Conoisseur CD was isued, which I never bought it seems. The whole album is on YouTube, I am listening to it right now. Burrell is always great, Jenkins has a nice sound, much nicer than McLean, I like the Parkerisms in his playing. Just thinking out loud. It seems my days of continuous Blue Note listening are over. But it is a very nice album.

If I didn't have the Vanguard sets I would certainly prioritize those, excellent sets.

Similar thoughts here. I only have a not really good sounding Spanish Polygram CD of Night Train. Somehow his trio does not thrill me nearly as much as Ahmad Jamal or others. I was given the recent LP reissue of the MPS album as a gift, it sounds really great, but still ..... I can't spend so much any longer, so I may rather get me the Vanguard sets.

Thank you for this! Just found and downloaded on Presto Music. It's absolutely wonderful.

I expect that Carla Bley made sure to keep control of rights to her catalog. So (though I could be wrong) I think decisions about box sets or previously unreleased tapes are most likely up to Steve Swallow. He wrote short liner notes to this Joyful Noise release, which supports my theory.

My copy should arrive today and I'm really looking forward to it. I do have a question your the group. I don't think there's been a Carla Bley boxed set or series of unreleased live stuff (other than the new one). Why? I mean she was well-known and respected by the jazz community. I know Charlie Haden loved her... but I don't get why she doesn't get more attention...
