  1. Past hour
  2. I have CD of that. Nice music.
  3. For some time, I haven't seen Harper included in Cookers gig announcements / promos. I didn't/don't know any details. Thought it could have been for health reasons rather than a "split". [All I know health-wise is that he had to be helped off a NY stage in 2021...there's an old forum thread.]
  4. Today
  5. Issued under Wilen's name, but this sure sounds like Kenny Dorham's gig. He announces all of the tunes and almost always takes the first solo spot. But maybe Wilen, Gilbert Rovere, and Daniel Humair were just being gracious hosts? Whatever the backstory, fabulous music.
  6. If I look up the Cookers on google, much current or recent-enough pr on the band still lists Harper as a member. I don't know the whole story (and maybe nobody outside the band does), but wasn't following closely enough to realize that he'd split.
  7. Kenny Burrell “Live at the Five Spot Cafe–The Complete Recordings” Blue Note Japan SHM-SACD 500×500 70.8 KB Didn’t get a chance to hear all of this before going off to PT, so I’m listening to it again!
  8. United Artists GXC 3136 ( Japan 1976) - Milt Jackson "Bag's Opus" - re. 1958 - Engineer: Tom Nola
  9. Fantastic news. Over Christmas, we were watching the Charlie Brown Christmas Tales DVD, which included music I never heard before. Great stuff indeed!
  10. In case anyone hasn't seen, all the 'other' Charlie Brown specials records have been being released, sometimes for the first time, over the past year or two. Some are pretty good. They're out on vinyl or available to stream.
  11. Buddy Montgomery – Ties
  12. Albert Warner's Brown Buddies/Albert Jiles' Onzaga Owls (American Music)
  13. Milton Nascimento with Wagner Tiso, Ao Vivo at RTSI 1981
  14. He's on some Lawrence Welk reruns, as is Bob Hastings. And if it's not Hucko, it's Henry Quests, who is not Hucko but who is still a good player.
  15. Could almost pass for a Modern Jazz Quartet album.

    Joe Henderson

    You won't regret it.
  17. Yeah, I've heard of these titles, specifically here, in great praise, I should just by the Milestone boxset. Haha, You mean like this record?

    Joe Henderson

I've always enjoyed etc.'s piano work on that era of Blue Note albums 😀. I guess Thiele was really fussy about his Impulse contract.
  19. Rarely if ever mentioned in this thread? But one of my very favorite Joe Henderson albums.
