    Don Cherry

This thread reminded me that I was contacted by soneone who had a recording of Don Cherry at Cornell in 1991 and he was wondering how to get in touch with the estate. I need to reply to him. Is this a recording that is widely circulated? It is not listed on the website above, but it must be a Multi Kulti gig.
  4. Today
  5. I think I have one from Japan from that time, with Rivers, maybe Tokyo, and it also has a distorted sound at the beginning, I think the tune is "If I were a Bell", something is not okay with the sound for a moment.....
  6. Hadn't heard Undercurrents by Bill Evans & Jim Hall in years and couldn't believe how much I enjoyed it this week! Made me feel so good!
  7. 👍- I just found this LP on my shelf ...
  8. Anyone know whether the second edition of the Coltrane Reference will be published before the centenary of Coltrane’s birth (September 2026)?
  9. The system is all warmed up and I’m treating it to a Monday Michiru that is among my favorite listens of the darkest time of this century–“Optimista” . . . talk about a percussive wall of sound. I love this photo–I love any woman who can laugh this way. 300×299 7.48 KB
  10. There is just so much variety of timbres (especially syllabic) here in under three minutes...talk about a Christmas Miracle...
  11. with Hans Koller & George Mraz
  12. Have the house to myself, so I am listening to something loud that I have wanted to turn up ever since it was released last year. Jimi Hendrix “Axis Bold as Love” mono mix from “Bold as Love,” the box set. 400×400 48.4 KB
  13. Amazon's release date has moved up a couple of months to April 2.
  14. The Reddit poster, simplehuman, is my nephew, it turns out! LOL!
  15. Maybe one reel per side? That would depend on the size of the reel and the thickness of the tape. https://richardhess.com/notes/formats/magnetic-media/magnetic-tapes/analog-audio/tape-timing-chart/
  16. I texted Ben and these "sessions" did not occur or are highly improbable at best.
  17. That's a (perhaps surprisingly) really good record!
  18. Billy Cobham featuring Ron Carter / Kenny Barron: The Art Of Three. In+Out Records IOR 77045-2 [Germany 2001]
  19. ATR Magnetics has only been in business since 1996, so these are not vintage tapes. These are dupes of some kind. If they are dupes of master tapes, they'd have value to many collectors. As long as you kept the sale on the QT (the label can block the sale), you could probably get some good money for them. That said, you'd have to play these tapes to find out if they're duplicates of the session masters and not simply someone's dubs of an LP or CD release. I am not sure how much music can fit on each tape. There appear to be two reels for each title, so I'd imagine that there's more music than a simple LP dub, but again, I don't know this medium. The tapes themselves have no info on the provenance.
