My Friend's New Blog Dedicated to Jazz in the 1990s

I really enjoyed these lists you made, and it has been good to revisit. One key point that jumps out is that the music on these lists may be the least easily streamed of all music. Neither old enough for the digital reissues or modern enough to be available electronically. So it is still CD or bust for many of them. Whilst lists of e.g. 1950s jazz releases are basically just measuring contests, lists and blogs like the ones we are discussing are really important. This music is being forgotten and it takes lists like this to guide people through. -

This compilation will digg deep into your soul. I figured a strange but accurate name for it; 'Helping music' . Constance Demby–Om Mani Padme Hum is delightful for me. 'Under the radar stuff'

Listening to an ezz-thetics cd remake of the Impulse John Coltrane “One Down, One Up” 2 cd set, called “ong Of Praise New York 1965 Revisited” and I have read it sounds way better than the Impulse, and it does. I think this is an imortant musical document.

Revolutionary piece of art. Hopefully, I’ll be able to catch the 26th‑anniversary commemorative project of this album live at the Noches del Botánico festival on June 3rd in Madrid, with Enrique Morente’s son, Kiki, taking his place. -

Thanks guys. I have a couple more useless lists on Discogs -
That show is a no-brainer!

I recently posted about this album in another thread. And excellent recording and performance by the band, especially a fiery George Coleman. Hats off to Zev Feldman (and his Reel to Real label) for making this available.

So a couple-three weeks in and we have some outstanding titles. This should be treat (and threat to my budget). -
Reading some recent fiction: Russell Smith's Self Care and Martyr! by Kaveh Akbar. After this, a swing through Southern literature: Faulkner's The Wild Palms and O'Connor's A Good Man is Hard to Find.

What live music are you going to see tonight?

Just saw Mike Murley with Reg Schwager & Neil Swainson at Hirut. Very nice trio work (guitar instead of piano). Will likely go tomorrow evening as well. -
