  3. Has to be Bluiett. I've never heard the song or album, but I would guess it's cut #6 from this. The trumpet player's writing style is pretty unmistakable from his time with the great bass player in the 70's. BTW. if I'm correct, I need to pick this CD up!

  10. That Keynote box set is an amazing document of the swing-to-bop era before the long playing record changed the way we listen to and approach a jazz record session. Lots of these artists, and certainly these records, suffered relative neglect in the LP era. I'd also recommend the Mosaic box set of Capitol small group sessions, mostly marooned on 10-inchers.
  11. Shirley Horn “Here’s to Life” Verve cd 300×296 9.55 KB Wow, Shirley is in a world all her own, a beautiful world.
  12. Vinicius Cantuária "Horse And Fish" Hannibal cd Bass – Paul Socolow Drums, Percussion – Paulo Braga Percussion – Mauro Refosco, Nanny Assis Producer, Vocals, Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar – Vinicius Cantuária Trumpet, Synthesizer, Percussion – Michael Leonhart
  13. Haven't listened to this one in a long time. Dizzy and Stitt are both outstanding. I like the way the piano solos of John Lewis exhibit a somewhat calm reserved sensibility but with true jazz depth after the multi-noted exciting solos from Diz & Stitt.
  14. I've had it since it was first released. Timeless, incredible music. Great sound. Recommended!
  15. This lovely lady is a great singer. Sabrina Malheiros “New Morning” cd Followed by From the “Enjoying the Ride” box set Grateful Dead Capital Centre, Landover MD (9/15/82)
  16. His website says that he played on the Botti At Sea Jazz cruise in February of this year, so it looks like he is still playing. His label, Blues Back Records, went belly up in 2011 but he seems to have a few more recordings on his website and bandcamp pages. Two of the CDs in the Signature Series box on his website don't seem to appear anywhere else, so you might want to check that out. I have no idea if any of these recordings are recent as they don't list recording dates for a any of them that I can find.
  17. I have seen Wycliffe numerous times. He is a marvelous musician. He plays trombone, and a number of other brass horns. Wycliffe also sings. Wycliffe loves New Orleans style jazz as well as Swing style, Funk style and Bebop. His enthusiasm on the band stand makes his performance great fun.
