  2. Red Rodney with Arne Domnerus, Bengt Hallberg, Red Mitchell & Ed Thigpen A good album!
  3. I would note that the festival website only has nine available hotels, none of which are downtown.
  4. The Jazz Tribe - The Next Step (Red, 1999) Outstanding!
  5. Today
  6. Agreed! Not that I particularly care but the Robert Plant and David Byrne concerts are separately ticketed.
  7. Amen to that! When I first saw the thread title, it startled me. 😮
  8. An excellent lineup, I think!!!
  9. Bruce Springsteen - Sólo le Pido a Dios

  11. I remember that Ken Dryden and am glad the obit’s not for ours.
  12. I walked by this park on my way to the Oasis concert a week and a half ago. Seeing and learning of its existence was an unexpected delight.
  13. Saw him in Hamburg in the main hall of the Laeiszhalle on November 28, 2008 - a great event! Line-up: Sonny Rollins (ts), Clifton Anderson (tb), Bobby Broom (g), Bob Cranshaw (b, voc), Kimati Dinizulu (perc), Kobie Watkins (dr)
  14. Helen Merrill “Affinity” Continental cd Bass – Nobuyushi Ino Percussion – Masahiko Togashi Piano – Masahiko Satoh Shakuhachi – Hozan Yamamoto Vocals – Helen Merrill Recorded at Teichiku Suginami Studio, Tokyo, on 10-11 July, 1982 A moody intimate session.
  15. I saw him when he was around 70. Still a force of nature!
  16. I am so glad I got to see him 5-6 times before he basically retired. If I had to guess, he was in his late 60s/early 70s. He could still blow then. Great man! Is Lucille still alive?
  17. Long live the Saxophone Colossus. Here is Sonny performing at the Keystone Korner in 1972. How beautiful he plays My One And Only Love. He makes his horn sing. https://mega.nz/folder/PxIgHQbI#JFQJ_t6cColSxPCcD9huvA
  18. Duke Ellington “The Great Concerts London & New York 1963 - 1964” Nimbus 2 cd set, disc 1, London concert A little warmer this morning. Dry, cool air, eerily silent after a burst of blue jay braying. I think an owl or hawk were about. This was quite a band! I just love the Ellington outfit when they are “on” and this was one of those nights, in London. Great way to start the day.
  19. That's good stuff, isn't it? I got to hear Chryl P talk a little about making that Stax demos box, just amazing dedication to get it done.
