  2. RIP, sad loss.
  3. RIP - great loss for the tuba masters quartet that graced that Taj Mahal album.
  4. FWIW It stayed in print long after Clark's other BNs. Not at all hard to find in a good record store over the years.
  5. R.I.P. NY Times obit
  6. Week 10 picks https://doorfliesopen.com/2025/08/07/cfl-beat-243/ https://3downnation.com/2025/08/07/3downnation-cfl-picks-straight-up-against-the-spread-week-10/ https://pifflespodcast.com/blog/piffles-picks-week-10-2025/ My picks... This week's lineup is very difficult. If I were betting money, I would skip this week. Tiger-Cats over Lions - The Ticats have won six straight, and they are at home. Alouettes over Elks - The Als are missing their best players due to injury, while the Elks are getting better. But I won't pick a team both on a losing streak and on the road. Argos over Redblacks - I don't have confidence in either team, so I will go with the home team. Stampeders over Blue Bombers - Both Adams and Collaros will start, with the Stamps at home. No way would I pick Calgary if Adams weren't playing. ***** Week 10 previews https://www.cfl.ca/2025/08/07/4-storylines-to-watch-in-week-10/ https://cflnewshub.com/cfl-news/bc-lions-3-5-week-10-preview-vs-hamilton-tiger-cats-6-2-prediction-depth-chart-injuries-odds/ https://cflnewshub.com/cfl-news/cfl-schedule-today-august-7th-2025-bc-lions-vs-hamilton-tiger-cats-tv-channels-live-stream-odds/ https://www.tsn.ca/cfl/juggernaut-hamilton-tiger-cats-seek-seventh-straight-victory-in-battle-vs-bc-lions-on-tsn-1.2343602 https://www.cfl.ca/2025/08/07/3-keys-to-victory-for-edmonton-montreal-in-week-10/ https://3downnation.com/2025/08/07/montreal-alouettes-missing-all-cfl-db-marc-antoine-dequoy-ol-justin-lawrence-against-elks/

  8. To refresh my impressions, I listened to my "Cool Struttin'" CD (transfers by RonMcMaster) this evening again for the first time in years. Nice enough, and I would neither fault it as harshly as some reviewers nor see reason to elevate it on a pedestal for adulation (at least in my status as someone who enjoys listening to hard bop when I'm in the mood but who is no diehard fanatic of the style who spends hours and hours comparing and dissecting every solo). Overall a comment from the 3-star review of this LP in "Orkester Journalen" sums it up fairly well IMO: "If there were ten LPs of this caliber with loosely planned and organized but well-played blowing sessions like this then they could be recommended any time. But nowadays it seems like there are a thousand of them, so critics invariably will be forced to nitpick..." (and the reviewer then goes on to single out a few weaknesses).
  9. RIP. I've been listening to a lot of his albums over the past year (was just enjoying "Un Dia Bonito" from The Sun of Latin Music yesterday). Just a really strong combo of adventurousness and quality control
  10. That's on my "to buy" list so I'm pleased it's not on the Discogs list!
  11. It's fun to hear these Lloyd compositions -- some of which he's still playing today -- in their nascent form. It's also clear that Lloyd was still working on finding his own voice on the tenor at this point. OTOH, his flute playing seems more fully individualized.
  12. This is my only vintage Mono BN, and surprised that it's not on the list
  13. I posted a concert of Eddie on this Facebook group https://m.facebook.com/groups/327260927975997/
  14. Yeah, humidity would be my biggest concern. And welcome back, Brandon. It's been a quick minute or two!
  15. Unreleased alternate take from Another Timbre website
