My 4 favorite themes: 1. It reminded me something like Jack Sels with Lou Bennett, but not european jazz. Intriguing. 3. I also heard the Sun Ra connection in the rhythm, no idea who is but I like a lot. Also it reminded me the ethio-jazz influence on bands like Either Orchestra. 4. Fantastic blues, I need this album, I thought of an All Stars with maybe Waldron, Quinichette... but not Prestige. Unexpected. Baritone sax is great, it sounds like Pepper Adams for me. 9. The Coltrane connection.

Armando Sciascia – Impressions In Rhythm & Sound The rare really really good Italian library record. (As opposed to merely good or tepid in a "why the hell are you all obsessing over this you clout-chasing freaks?!" way.)

It does make a lot of sense that it was only published after he left us... 500 pages of ramblings from a world in which being a pimp is more respectable than drinking Pepsi... He does have some interesting memories of famous people though, and the book gives a lot of context to his career... It did not make me want to listen to his music more though

Good morning: In this past week, one of the best tracks I have listened is Border. That theme is in Sarah Elizabeth Charles album, blaqck canvas. Highly recomended....

Library of Congress Acquires Manuscripts of Jazz Musician Gil Evans Archive Includes Jazz Orchestrator’s Collaborations With Miles Davis, Arrangements Spanning 40-Year Career The Library of Congress has acquired the complete collection of music manuscripts of jazz bandleader, arranger, pianist and composer Gil Evans (1912-1988). Evans is widely remembered as one of the greatest orchestrators in the history of jazz – and is celebrated for his collaborations with legendary jazz trumpeter, composer and bandleader Miles Davis (1926-1991).

The trio was definitely noisy. Orcutt and Shelley were pretty locked in. I guess I don't have stamina to listen to extended distorted guitar jams as I once did. They were good at their craft, though. I liked Tortoise, but still not sure if I "get" them. It's an interesting group of musicians. The 2 guitarists pretty much stay in their own lanes, but the other 3 constantly rotate what instruments they play. Constantly moving from drums to vibes to electronics to keyboards. The music is pretty formless, mostly based on beats and definitely not "songs" in the traditional sense. More like soundscapes.

Haven't heard this in a LONG time! Still holds up!
