  1. Past hour
  2. Disc Three originally issued as... Stompin, my memory is pretty vague on this. My recollection is that EMI issued three or four similar box sets in the mid-'90s, each called "60 Great Jazz Classics.". Each box had four CDs, and sold for $19.99. A very low price in those days. I wish I had bought them all. I bought the one "For Lovers." I see these on Amazon.
  3. Zappa 50th Anniversary Apostrophe(‘) 5 disk + Blu-ray on Amazon for about $50 (half price!)
  4. Today
  5. I was at the concert at the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin for Amir El-Saffar's lates.
  6. Revisiting this disc from last spring. Nice! David Hadju “Lives of the Saints” Sunnyside cd All songs with Aubrey Johnson, voice Helen Sung, piano; Dave Douglas, trumpet Chet Doxas, clarinet and tenor saxophone et Marika Hughes, cello; Simón Willson, bass Rudy Royston, drums; Samuel Torres, percussion Aubrey Johnson
  7. Keith Jarrett/Gary Peacock/Jack DeJohnette “Bye Bye Blackbird” ECM cd
  8. Thanks for that "preview." I'm looking forward to mine arriving, probably next week (I have a tracking number but no indication yet that my set has shipped).
  9. My set arrived today. Sound quality wise it’s extremely impressive and surpasses all of the other cds or LPs I have with some of these tracks. Also, Dave Weiner’s notes are excellent! I encourage anyone on the fence to go for it!
  10. I'd be interested in the Coltrane. I'm sure a bunch of us would.
  11. Interesting - though they've also issued later stuff. Monk in 67, Cannonball in 72. Academic for me as I don't have the budget for ÂŁ60 Coltrane LPs. Also... $290 to ship some records to France! Ouch!!
  12. Sounds convincing. Did their paths cross? Whatvis known about Levister?
