  1. Past hour
  2. Excellent work, Pim! I think a lot of members of this board would purchase ALL of those sets.
  3. Late

    Oscar Dennard

Fantastic!!! Thank you for posting that video. Dig Dennard playing cross-legged at the piano. Oh, check out this article—which mentions Dennard—Tangier's Jazzmen.
  4. I concur. Totally. But I'm old, and I'm not expecting the future to grandfather me in (although I am a grandfather...). I tell you what I'm NOT gonna do, and that's to go back to vinyl. Been there, done that.
  5. bichos

    Oscar Dennard

here you can see oscar dennard in warsaw: keep boppin marcel
  6. Tonight at Zardi's, a 5-CD collection of live performances by Shorty Rogers, Stan Kenton and Stan Getz that the Los Angeles Jazz Institute put out recently as a membership thank-you gift.
  7. Such an excellent box-set. A primary issue for selling here, pglbook, might be most if not that all who would be interested already have it!
  8. Here are some of my wishes. Never gonna happen but still: nice to dream about them. And most of them I’d probably wouldn’t get as I own all the music (except for the Tapscott). But if it included any bonuses It would be an instant buy for sure. I just feel they deserve the mosaic treatment.
  9. Grateful Dead “To Terrapin–Harford '77” Disc 1 of 3 It’s been too long since I heard some guitar from Jerry. And much longer since I listened to this show. Man, the system is really warmed up and sounding great.
  10. Today
  11. I have decided to remove this from sale and keep it in my collection since there has not been any interest on here. Thanks for looking and commenting. Happy holidays everyone!
  12. If the infection has healed you’re not in need of any medication. They can’t do a lot about the other symptoms like temporary loss of hearing. For me it took months but I think that’s exceptional. Anyway you’ll get through it in no time probably I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.
  13. My annual physical happens to be this Wednesday (in 3 days), so I’ll definitely have her take a look. I had just a little ear pain a couple days ago, for about 2 days (seems to be gone today) — which I actually took as a good sign, that this is just a regular, run-of-the-mill ear infection. She’ll probably write me a script for some antibiotics, and I’ll be fine in 7-10 days — or so I’m hoping.
  14. Bouncing in my head while I was tinkering with the cars outside was a tune from “The Spirit of Condon” – Louis Armstrong’s “Someday You’ll be Sorry.” I’ve learned the wisdom in that song a few times. Need something to push that tune out so. . . . “Count Basie & Friends–100th Birthday Bash” Roulette 2 cd set, disc 1 Pulled this from the shelves, a great collection of great Basie in that Roulette sound. 300×300 10.8 KB
  15. Yes; it's well recorded and good.
  16. A bit of a different game, but Dusty Groove seems to always have a pretty good used selection, generally cheap.
  17. Some late Chicago Style. . . . “The Spirit of Condon” Jazzology cd Eddie Condon on board, with Wild Bill Davison and Art Hodes as well. Recorded in Manassas, VA 1971 and 1973
  18. Went to see "Sentimental Value." Quiet film, nicely written, beautifully acted.
  19. Right. Point taken, I just don't like downloads. I feel like I am buying virtually air. Just not for me. Takes the excitement out of having the actual product in your hand, I mean did you not freak finding a rare album in the cut-out bin in 1970? I can't tell you how many times I've said, "no fucking way" out loud in a store when I found the actual record/CD. Downloads for me, the thrill is gone.
  20. I preordered, but I have to say the discography of this set sent me to my shelves to pull down my somewhat dusty old copy of George T. Simon's _The Big Bands_. There are some really obscure groups on this one! For me, that makes it more interesting, but I fear others might be put off a bit?
  21. with Marcus Belgrave, Branford Marsalis, Kenny Kirkland, and Jeff "Tain" Watts
