The last CD in the Fontana Tubby Hayes set, which is deifintely a step below the rest of them. He's got a great tone, but the background arrangements of these 1960s pop songs put me to sleep...

Such fun--Pops playing Fats!

I'm listening to disc 2 of this one. Great sound and selection so far!

Is this a selection of the original LPs as packaged or a box set of all the tunes from them?

Those tracks with Dizzy on piano, if he really was, are classics.

Sorry, never answered this. It's all the tunes, as far as I can tell: https://craftrecordings.com/products/charlie-parker-the-savoy-10-inch-lp-collection-cd-box-set

The sound is good!

I should listen to this again. As much as I remember Jackie plays alto AND tenor on the title track. And I think Curtis Fuller is also on this.

But I always thought that I couldn´t recognize Jackie on that photo. I saw him live on several occasions and as much as I remember he was quite heavy an somehow "Mingus-like", also the lighter, more yellowish skin, like Mingus....

Yes, that's true: he doesn't look very Jackie Mac-like on that cover.

That's something I like very much: that whole Cosmic Disco scene. And Soul Jazz is an excellent compilation label out of London. I might consider seeking that out.
