  1. Steve is a friend and a "local" here in Buffalo. He also is in charge of the music programs at Hallwalls. I have seen many wonderful shows there.
  2. Hard to tell what is out there and still survives. I have a couple of reels given me by Charlie Weeks (stock broker and JIC board member) from jazz fest at Bard College in 1958. Performers include Ran Blake, Kenny Dorham, Jon Mayer, Pete Laroca, Barry Miles, Perry Robinson, Chuck Israel and possibly a panel discussion with Martin Williams, John Hammond, Nesuhi Ertegun and Tom Dowd. Just a hint of shit our there.
  3. Try this - it isn't expensive.
  4. More is out there than you can absorb.
  5. Alfred Lion purchased George Lewis masters from Bill Russell (American Music). Since these were not "union sessions" BN released these on a different label.
  6. Curious about the "modern" Climax material.
  7. Nice indeed. Have you seen Birthday celebration?
  8. Last time I checked I have 41 twelve inch discs, 33 ten inchers and 3 of the Climax discs. Maybe I'll check the 45s tomorrow. I think I have fewer than 20 of those.
  9. This morning Facebook informed me it was Mark's birthday. I miss Jazz Moose.
  10. On deck for this afternoon
  11. I enjoy the commercials.
  12. There wouldn't be just one set, and the tapes probably exist.
  13. Yes, that's from "The Divine One".
  14. The 2 disc version with the rehearsals and brekdowns is a fascinating document.
  15. The catalog numbers were BN 4210 and 4211. This info (including titles) is in the Ruppli/Cuscuna Blue Note book. The ESP record is 4211 and the titles slated for 4210 were Story Teller, I Don't Love You, Children's Books and Architecture.
  16. As I understand it, BN made a deal with Ornette for the Town Hall material and actually made test pressings for 2 lps. Then (somehow) Bernard Stollman (operating as Ornette's manager) issued an ESP lp. Ornette recorded the Golden Circle material as a "make good" for the project. I think I have told this before.
  17. Artifact marketing, not music.
  18. Maybe they are using Ornette as a marketing "test" for future projects. That's what these people do.
  19. Sigh! Sign of the times with little to do with music - just commerce.
  20. Sides C & D, the "live" version.
