  1. I meant he seems to be filling orders from distributors, exporters, retail accounts, etc and as inventories dwindle titles are disappearing.
  2. 10064 was not original.
  3. The post about Dupree Bolton (thanks to my friend Steve Siegel) caused me to see what was still available from the label. I did a shitload of production work for Bob and we had a nasty divorce but there are a ton of wonderful recordings in the catalog. Anyway, it seems his son is just selling off inventory and not repressing. Over half the catalog is unavailable on Amazon and Dusty, so I suggest grabbing anything you desire. I slept on the Jeri Southern disc and regret it.
  4. Firstly, the YouTube stuff was posted by Milton Suggs Jr, not the bass player on the record. Luba was a friendly spirit who popped up once in a while. Never knew his history.
  5. This is transporting me back to Chicago 40 years ago. On board are John Young, Ari Brown, Von Freeman, Grady Johnson, Milton Suggs and Robert Shy. Luba knew how to round up the cats.
  6. Spirit Catcher Campanella
  7. Ann doesn't always agree with that.
  8. Listening to Barbirolli's Mahler 5 while eating a dinner of cheddar, crackers, olives, salami, hard boiled egg and Dewar's on the rocks. Wish me well.
  9. i don't understand "pretend meat". If you don't want to eat meat, leave it alone. Would you buy "pretend veggies"?
  10. Very good late Art. Had a nice conversation about that gig with Art and Laurie shortly before his health problems.
  11. A rare one I'd guess - oops, I just saw the Fresh Sound name disclosing the fakery.
  12. Probably only Chicagoans will feel the loss, but he was important in that city for at least 5 decades. This was posted by Lauren Deutsch on FB - So sad to find out that saxman Jimmy Ellis passed this morning. Jimmy was among the last of an era that included Von Freeman, Gene Ammons, Johnny Griffin and so many more that carved out what came to be known as The Chicago Sound. An alum of DuSable High School under the tutelage of Cap't Walter Dyett, Jimmy went on to teach and mentor the generations who came behind him. His legacy will live on in each and every one of them.
  13. He's been interested in expanding his music to larger ensembles in the last decade and I have aided him in this effort. Go Mr Mitchell! In ten days he will be an amazing 81. Thank god he is in a position to do many things.
  14. Delving into this - beginning appropriately with disc 1
  15. Disc 3 - Borodin, Prokofiev & Rachmaninoff
