  8. The problems with new discussions is searches for Andrew Hill lead to different threads and much worthwhile knowledge is missed. If the first thread is extended, we all have the opportunity to learn more without a first post like "I really like him. How about you".

  17. Muddy knew who paid for the butter on his bread.
  18. Yup. Do you have his recordings with Eddie Johnson on Chess?
  19. Who is he? Can't find any references via Google. Sorry, this was an inside joke. John was the husband of Lynne Ludy, a coworker at JRM/Delmark back in the day. John was an introvert and seemed to spend all his time composing. He had stacks of his work next to the piano in their apartment. On rare occasions he would play some of them for close friends. I'm sure John Litweiler heard a few. They moved home to central Michigan in the '70s and divorced. John passed away a few years ago. Sorry for the derailment.
  20. Thanks for the kind comments from everyone. I did remix the 24 track masters for the cd issue (insuring a financial loss) and I do prefer the cd to the "leader centric" view taken back in the early '80s. Shortly after the first session Eddie, Paul Serrano, John Young and I were part of a planeload of Chicago musicians going to NYC for a Chicago Night at Carnegie Hall as part of the Newport In New York festivities. When we got to the hotel we were greeted by Joe Williams and everything halted so Joe could listen to the session cassette in my walkman. I will never forget the smile on his face. I should repeat this grouping was originally created by Eddie to accompany Joe at an engagement at the Holiday Inn Lakeshore. I hope I have written about this concert and the preparations elsewhere - if not, please remind me later.

  22. Actually just saw a scene I had not seen before - bodies after the shots into Michael's bedroom.
