Thanks for the nice comments. Eddie was a special person, as I hope the booklet notes reveal.
I still have some difficulty speaking/typing about this kind man.
Thanks for the opportunity Ubu.
Looking at your list, I had professional and personal dealings with Bud Freeman, Art Hodes, Lorez, Bill Henderson and too much more to list. Chicago is a wonderful place for music of varied styles.
The catalog is in a sort of disarray at the moment. Titles I look for are cdrs on Amazon and expensive otherwise. The Camjazz site offers a few titles I want for 8.76 euro. Does anyone know if these are real cds or the same as Amazon.
Edit to say back in Sept 2009 I ordered a bunch of Black Saints from Cadence and one of them (Muhal's Rejoicing With the Light) was a cdr. Cadence said they did not know of this.
Probably true and the music will be lost in the corporate underbelly. If you want the music, it's not available from the owner, then you have some permission to download from GOD.
Those of us issuing new lps by new bands resented these issues. Why buy a new Lester Bowie lp for $5 when you can get a 2 disc Miles Davis reissue for $7?
I remember when this lp series was being assembled by my friend Bob Porter. We met in a hotel lobby and he shouted (as usual when addressing me) "Put these headphones on Nessa and listen to some Prez no one else has heard". God I miss not seeing Bob regularly.
