  1. I only heard Christopher Gaddy a few times and only recorded him once. He was a friendly spirit and played the piano exactly as I would have (if I could play) to accompany Joseph Jarman. The only comparison for me would be the early Corea ECM solos.
  2. Thanks to Clifford for a nice piece about the Hal Russell at http://www.tinymixtapes.com/delorean/hal-russell-nrg-ensemble
  3. All three are in a two disc set on one of George Buck's labels.
  4. The Warner Bros pressings were done at the plant I used - Wakefield Mfg in Phoenix, AZ. during that era Warner's pressed their own promos at Wakefield, but consumer issues at Columbia.
  5. Never inexpensive.
  6. It also means a change of manufacturers in this case. The first US pressings were distributed/made by Polydor, then switched to Warner's and eventually back to Polydor. Not at home to check the dates.
  7. I much appreciate Jeff's report - I could not remember everything. On our own today, Ann and I rode the trolley lines from end to end, took the ferry to Algiers and had lunch at a delightful cafe called Tout de Suite. We are currently relaxing at our hotel. After dinner we will probably check out Aurora Nealand at the Spotted Cat.
  8. I have a promo stamped copy of the Bill Dixon / Archie Shepp (NYC5) original.
  9. Having a wonderful time in NOLA with special thanks to Jeff for his expertise.
  10. Has anyone compared the At Large contents with the 2 cd set on Dragon?
  11. Nice. Thanks for posting.
  12. Still in Iowa. KC tomorrow with brother and family. Then more fam in Arkansas, stop in Jackson MS to see Alvin Fielder. We finally arrive in NO on the 19th. Some "intruder" named Jeff will be our guide for a while. :-). I think we leave NO on the 25th. We wll improvise the return home.
  13. As I mentioned in the notes of my Hal Russell reissue, I heard a Klemmer quartet with Sam, Hal and Malachi Favors. Must have been in 67 or 68. Sam's brother Phil was a fine drummer.
  14. FWIW, the Montreux series was NEVER released. All copies were dumped as cut-outs.
  15. Thanks for the tip.
  16. We leave in the morning for Chicago and a day with our daughter Carla (my graphic designer) and then 3? days in Iowa with Ann's mother, brother and extended family. Then to KC for my Bro and family. Thanks for all the interesting emails and pms. We will keep in touch via our iPad, etc.
  17. Didn't ever know he was a member but I have no negatives for his playing.
  18. Got my copy from Cecil after a concert at Columbia. Soon after I bought 300 copies for the record chain employing me.
  19. Is Bean on that one? No.
  20. Not what I would wish for.
  21. That's okay; I like young stuff. LOL! I agree.
  22. Ann has a significant birthday on Jan 10 and I am at her mercy. We leave for Iowa on the 8th to visit daughter Carla in Chicago and then on to Iowa to spend time with her Mother, brother and extended family. On the 14th we drive to KC for a visit with my brother and his family. No idea when we leave but Ann says the journey leads to the Gulf and I can make side trips if I wish. We have never been to NO and could use some advice.
