  1. Go with the noise. You usually get more music.
  2. FWIW, Roscoe called late this afternoon to praise the "beautiful" new issue. He just returned from a 3 week residency in Florida and had a great time.
  3. My mom was my judge and when she died the title was passed to my dad. I disregarded many of his "judgements" and he made me pay. I really resent that. Mom was a better judge.
  4. He's trying to find out which way it screws.
  5. Buy doubles and store them with your dealer.
  6. My copy just arrived. Looking forward to the first listen - maybe after the Holloween Kids leave the neighborhood.
  7. La Russa is hanging it up. Guess that removes him from my current DB list.
  8. Juice Newton Frankie Newton Charlie Shavers
  9. Paul Giamatti Harvey Pekar Harvey Haddix
  10. Penny Sillen Cilla Black Black Bart
  11. Maybe next year for the Cubbies. My season has been over for a while. The "off season" looks good for us though.
  12. I thought everyone knew bleen came between 6 and 7!
  13. Pre-game commentators, or Buck and McCarver? I appreciate that the World Series has less hype than the Super Bowl, which is presented like it's Doomsday or something, and with coverage all day long. Does not seem to take itself as seriously as the NFL. It's not World Series CVII either! Buck and McCarver. Only way to make it worse is to add Joe Morgan.
  14. I hate the commentary. Fox has the most idiot A holes.
  15. Just keep your pants on unless you are on a mission!
  16. Been waiting since the 17th for my Marion Brown disc from RAREWAVES-IMPORTS in the UK. I think my orders sent the "other way" arrive more quickly but I'm not bitching yet.
  17. Now we know someone who doesn't want the book.
  18. What if noon was at 3? What if there are numbers we don't know, like bleen?
  19. My old landlady.
  20. Don't want to be the prophet of doom but: Don Byas set. I'm afraid the Byas material is on too many labels to make this happen. It would make a great set. Yes it would, but ... if you look at the labels (official/studio material only), starting in 1944, until 1950: Savoy, Commodore, Jamboree, Caracol, Hub, Super Disc, Gotham, Swing, Blue Star, Spanish Columbia, Vogue, ... I don not know if some of these are labels with later issues. It fills seven pages of my old printed Bruyninckx disco ... The Vogue material alone would fill a Select or more, the Savoys were on a double LP. The Chronological Classics series broke down as follows: 1944-45 1945 1945 vol 2 1946 1947 1947-51 1951-52 1952 1952-3 Don't know if there were later issues.
  21. Too much music to digest at one time. All seems to be on a high level but.... I do have trouble absorbing all of it in an serious way.
