  1. Don't pass on the "Reiner Sound" disc.
  2. Good deal but I want vol 1 & 2.
  3. These new releases will be available next week: For this intimate recital Anthony Braxton plays in duet with trumpeter John McDonough. In the notes McDonough explains the genesis of this recording: After finally meeting him at a concert in 2002, I nervously offered to try and organize a performance of his Composition 103, for 7 trumpets. He was so excited and grateful, I couldn't believe it. After copying out the parts and with a large amount of help from Taylor Ho Bynum, we organized the premiere on September 16, 2005. About a week after the concert he said to me 'Mr. McDonough you and I are going to do a duo album together!' The program is a mix of compositions by the participants, an improvisation and a march by Sousa! Complete documentation of the 1967 edition of saxophonist/composer Roscoe Mitchell's Art Ensemble with Lester Bowie (trumpet), Malachi Favors (bass) and Phillip Wilson (drums). Disc one was initially issued on vinyl in 1975 as 'Old/Quartet'. The material on the second disc was first released in the limited edition CD box 'The Art Ensemble 1967/68'. The Braxton is $15 and the Mitchell is $23. Postage paid in North America, reduced postage elsewhere. Contact me for details at nessarecords@charter.net. This address works for PayPal too. Thanks for the attention.
  4. Nice to see you here Bob.
  5. I suggest it is possible the discs are available from your regular CC supplier, but not listed on the site. I suggest the problem might be "Mrs" Baker and her lawyer. I have heard they regularly harass labels without any grounds, but with a bunch of claims. I do not know any of this as fact.
  6. I hope my new releases weren't the cause of either!
  7. Outstanding session - pay the original price.
  8. I agree. Get the RVG.
  9. It is a self portrait. It should be available in a few days.
  10. Had the set as my standard for about 20 years but left it behind. YMMV. It is very well played.
  11. and they stop publication...........................
  12. As much as I love Wardell, I tend to believe the junkie stories. His playing changed markedly in the last years, with greatly reduced mental and physical facility, IMO (obviously not proof of anything). And, as I recall from the Ravett film, Clark Terry alludes to Wardell using. (If I'm wrong about this latter point - it's been years since I've seen the film - my apologies.) In what might be a rare display of discretion on my part, I never asked his widow before she passed. ("One of his widows/ex-wives", I suppose...) FWIW, JR Monterose told me Wardell got high in his hotel room, started jumping on his bed, fell off and broke his neck. Friends in the room drove him to the desert so they wouldn't be involved.
  13. No complaints from me about Creed.
  14. I have some connections to get anyone on this board "scrapings from the bottom of the barrel" for a few bucks.
  15. I clean my kitchen with a "Bessie Smith" model broom. It is wonderful.
  16. An amazing number anyway.
  17. Good for you!
  18. Maybe it just had sex. Otherwise forget it. This is where dead voices gather.
  19. Make choices, live with them.
  20. Geez!
  21. Whatever. Shirley Horn is in my top 5. Now I have to think about numbers 3 and 4!
