  1. Hot sure if these belong to Hal, but...
  2. Last time was a Winslow Homer and Edward Hopper exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago. That was a couple of years ago. Before that was a general 20th century exhibit in Buffalo at Albright-Knox, from their holdings. They have a fantastic collection. Anyone with the opportunity should check out Albirght-Knox
  3. I think it is just fine to have LOC in possession of the source material (remember the recent fire), I am really bugged Universal is getting kudos for bailing on their responsibilities and having the LOC do their work for them.
  4. Larry, you must be looking at the lp version.
  5. And they won't have the storage fees.
  6. Does anyone need a new anyone?
  7. Enjoyed his Elmore records a bunch.
  8. I have had the opportunity to hear most of this music and think it is a wonderful representation of the band. I even considered issuing it on my label but the current economics of the biz drug me down. I unreservedly recommend this band and this recording. Sam is a very interesting composer/arranger, Johnny is a very fine drummer and Reptet is one of the very few real bands in the music today.
  9. I agree. I've had that box since 1968. If you can find the book (it's a great 52 page "tome") you will be happy. I now listen to the music on cd (for convenience) but still pull out the book for reference.
  10. Riverside did use Rudy early on and Keepnews has written (can't remember where) Grauer signed a contract with someone else. Maybe Chris knows but this would be before his involvement. Jepsen started in the middle of the alphabet - where Blackstone left off.
  11. You might like James Lee Burke's Dave Robicheaux series. The Neon Rain is the first in the series. If you enjoy audio books, check you library for the terrific version read by Will Patton.
  12. How do the transfers compare with your earlier versions of this music?
  13. I have changed my mind. I am now in favor of the death penalty - maybe public hanging.
  14. Thanks for the link. Unusual group.
  15. I say go ahead and bitch. Worst case, you vent.
  16. I got BB as a promo before it was issued. Still ringing in my ears was Miles ridiculing Eric Dolphy and some other stuff - I thought he was a creep. The music in the records made me reconsider Miles for the first time since I was introduced to his music in 1958. It took me a while to get over this and accept he was still a creep.
  17. I've always been amazed Brownie never comments on stolen photos.
  18. We all want longer frogs.
  19. I have my hands on my "junk" right now for protection. Many thanks for the info.
  20. Been there done that. I have spent about 40 years with it. Not one of Miles' best, but a great influence.
  21. These occurred when EMI finally had their own cd plant up and running. Previously, all their cds were manufactured by the Columbia/Sony owned plant and that operation provided warehousing for EMI. When the relationship ended, EMI deleted all the titles and dumped the inventory. Later EMI offered new pressings of these titles on a "one time, no return" basis to stores - these were the "collectors classics" or whatever they were called.
  22. In some cases that might be good news.
  23. 1984 - Billie Holiday "Silver Collection".
  24. Must have been created by the Bear Family.
  25. Hosted the Timex show with lots of jazz.
