  2. Columbia's 30th St studio on Feb. 19, 1959, the day before the Back to Back/Side by Side sessions with Johnny Hodges and six days before the Queen's Suite.
  3. Lance Jack Louis
  4. I use a sharpie. My screen is a mess but i can't see it.
  5. No one ever mentions the date he wrote for CSI:Dayton.
  6. How did elbows and macaroni get together?
  7. I already have the big Columbia box and ordered a couple to use as gifts. No rush.

  9. Whatever - All the best to you and thanks for your work.
  10. Have it on cd and still think it's lame. I certainly didn't expect it to sound like regular Ellington (was looking for a new slant) and it sounded lame to me, like a grad student's attempt. FWIW, I am a fan of much of Fischer's work.
  11. Allen, you keep forgetting this is not a depression thread.
  12. It's ok, I saved a copy.

  14. Ah, music as the soundtrack to your life.
  15. I bought the lp at the time it was released. I was "in love" with Diz at the time - I thought he and Rollins and Ellington were gods, but I never could connect with the date and I still can't. I have to think early Clare and Diz and Duke were a mis-match.
  16. Choices better than Wal-Mart today. I mean, just imagine New Orleans R&B for sale in that place at that time!
  17. or contact Amazon.
  18. I have a couple of those - the Newton and Freeman discs. Dandy way to hear music - it makes you concentrate.
  19. I bought my first 12" lp (Fats Domino on Imperial) from a grocery store in 1957. It was sealed in a plastic bag. The store was Mac's Super Value in Story City, IA, a farming community with a population of around 1200 souls.
  20. Von Freeman was wonderful last night at the Green Mill. Chicago members should note he'll be there again tonight.
