  2. We talkin' 'bout the trumpet player giving Monk shit?
  3. Whatever. I don't care. The whole Bob Crosby phenom escapes me. I'm sure it was "the jammies" for the country club set back in the day. They were very good musicians and deserve respect. This stuff is still in the margins of music. YMMV. The Swaggies are the best way to get this stuff.
  4. Never heard of him - but you're another whose knowledge and judgement I'd trust. MG Sorry to be so late responding. I was speaking of William "Brother" Woodman, brother of Britt.
  5. Sorry to hear this. Jazz Street meant a lot to me in my "development".

  8. Bob Trombone Eric Saxophone Tom Skinflute
  9. The Moondoc is a good catch. I've been looking for it and it's out of print. I could get a new one on Amazon for $209.36 or a used one for $39.99.
  10. Really don't want to read the disagreements above (I started and gave up). I have at least one cd and have heard him "live" a few times. He seemed ok, but I enjoyed his frequent partner Rudresh more. Can anyone recommend a "great" recording by him?
  11. Seems to be a stupid marketing ploy. Bummer.
  12. Geez! Get a grip man. The music publishing is more than the asking price.
  13. Jan 10 is Ann's (my wife) birthday. I have lived at least 30+ years because of her.
  14. not sure yet. as far as i can tell, all current cds are needle drops. i have a master tape from emi. we will see what happens.
  15. In about 10 years my kids can enjoy "almost jazz". If I wanted to, I could do it now.
  16. neat trick indeed.
  17. Nothing original about that.
  18. nessa n-4, comparing it to my latest digital transfer and the previous issues on EMI and Universal Sound.
  19. They do it so you don't ask for 912 calls.
  20. Their sets were "brilliant"? Please 'splain!
  21. this thread indicates jazz might be over. now we can safely move on to "working within styles" without denigration until the last real jazzman dies. It won't be long kiddies.
  22. Mahler Sym 1, Horenstein/VSO on Vox.
