  1. This makes one wonder why songwriters bother with melodies.
  2. Sibelius and Bruch violin concertos by Ivry Gitlis/Jascha Horenstein on Vox - English pressing, 1956. Thanks to Paul Secor for reminding me.
  3. Evans Bradshaw Bobby Bradford Glenn Ford
  4. Skilled, talented, maybe gifted but always too "studied" for my taste.
  5. If I liked bumper stickers this might be one.
  6. I should add he gave me a PJ versoin of Now Jazz Ranwong. This was a combo of 2 different Mangelsdorff lps.
  7. Chuck Nessa

    Amy Winehouse

She's no Ruth Olay. OTOH, maybe she is.
  8. Don't think Zorn is a stranger fit than the late Tchicai. Have to add I have not heard the reunion disc.
  9. Great choice of colors.
  10. You could bill the gig as "value added".
  11. Nice list. Hadn't thought of Bob Moses' Bittersuite in the Ozone in a long time.
  12. Don't tell Randy about the local Outback, unless y'all want to eat there.

  14. My car is on the list and it seems I have an average age of 38.
  15. Since Allen mentioned Mike Bloomfield I must say Mike was very much a Coltrane fan in the mid '60s. Had conversations/arguments with him about the music. He did hate Ascension - called it "formless junk" until I sat him down and made him listen.
  16. How the hell does Tim McCarver keep his job? What a self serving dickhead!
  17. I think my wife buys her oil.
  18. Josef Hofmann "the Brunswick Recordings - 1923" on IPA.
  19. Shouldn't that be your mission? I do a show at a community radio station not an NPR station. I'm one volunteer among scores. And if you've seen my playlists or heard the program you'll know that my show indeed tends to focus on the more adventurous and avant garde "fringes" of the music. Nomatter, it should still be your mission.
  20. No thanks. Mine was a very rude post. I apologize.
  21. These were all 78s (singles) not albums. Labels include Decca, Apollo, Aladdin, Victor, Clef/Norgran/Verve, etc. I do understand it is easier to ask others to do your research but the work is rewarding and many times more reliable than free info. As far as the Amazon listing is concerned, you need to learn about the "scroll" feature on the right of you screen. This will give you a list of the tunes and a capsule review of the set. I see the Proper site says the box is in short supply. Time to make a decision I'd say.
  22. That's easily discovered online at Amazon, etc.
  23. Not unless being an uncrowned king makes you gay. Can you think of a better reason?
