  1. Some folks don't understand the words they read.
  2. The next Schuller book so I could go completely mad. I would also enjoy a complete discography arranged, session by session, chronologically. I would like a catalog of all known Klimpt paintings and a listing of diminsions and "survivors".
  3. I hope they got some.
  4. Not music, but Ann and I are packing a picnic basket with sandwiches and a few brews for a trip to the beach. Sunsets can be magical here but the sound of the water will suffice. We will lay back in the dune grass and listen.
  5. They might have panned the applause with the band in the center to give the stereo effect. I will see. If it was only recorded in mono, maybe they used a 2 track machine and dubbed the "noise" into the second track and played with it later. 3 or 4 track machines weren't all that common in 1958. Columbia was a bit behind the curve created by the guys at RCA.
  6. I have a "six eye" stereo obtained around 1960. I'll check it out.
  7. IYHG, (if you hadn't guessed:-) ) this was a vanity deal, recorded an financed by Cybill and shopped around. Irv Kratka bit.
  8. Consummate musicians. Neither offered a note to offend. I don't mean that as a compliment.
  9. When the first batch of Apple lps came out in the US I managed a record store in Bloomington. Apple sent us a huge press package including 8x10s of the MJQ, Mary Hopkin, James Taylor and Jackie Lomax. I grabbed the photos and scrawled phony autographs on them. I signed the MJQ pic "the Modern Jazz Quartet". I hung all the photos in the front of the store and our customers were amazed we had personalized shots.
  10. Lon Armstrong Neil Armstrong Neil Tesser
  11. Universal did issue a cd. You can currently get a new copy on Amazon for $4.79. I bought it when issued and was impressed but you don't want to hear about that.
  12. Back in the '70s I used the Eastern shuttle. Screw trains.
  13. Watkins and Teddy Kotick were THE new bassists in the first half of the '50s. I would have a tough time picking a favorite. All this was upset buy the popularity and high profile of Paul Chambers in the last half of the '50s.
  14. FWIW, I think the JRVG of Lee Morgan Vol. 2 is one of Rudy's best "remasterings". It jumps out of my speakers.
  15. If that's your game, look for double reed players. Oh, Bo!
  16. So.......the creator of the battery charger didn't write a letter to a European Capitol?
  17. I suggest a $4 reduction on every record listed with "Hayden" as a sideman. Not to mention Izanzon, Dolphyy and whatever else.
  18. You squeeze guavas or is it packaged?
  19. Sony/Columbia could have stopped this release if they noticed/cared. Cool. I was thinking along the line of Granz. . . .I shouldn't have said probably, I was actually thinking "possibly" but wrote probably. You'd think they WOULD HAVE stopped these, or gotten their cut. . . are they just so not paying attention? If anyone noticed (most folks with that info have been fired by the majors) they would have demanded rights, paid "venue rights" and issued it with some payment to the owner of the tapes.
  20. Sony/Columbia could have stopped this release if they noticed/cared.
