  12. Seems to be just the music publishing wing, not the recordings.
  13. Ray Nance. Allegedly Duke fired Nance due to unreliability. Gonsalves remained! I love Ray Nance's face after he finishes his solo and twirls the horn! I can't believe Gonsalves is totally out cold! Nance is playing the Freddy Jenkins role at that point (and playing it very well). For proof see the clip of Old Man Blues from Check and Double Check.
  14. Earl and Earl.
  15. Nomatter the personal feelings about the event, statistics indicate a "fluke". If you have numbers to contest this please do so.

  19. What Dan has been saying. Freak deal for a basically good guy. Mom and kids miss a partner. Sad.
  20. Lee seems to be looking for a pickle from above.
  21. So what? Has your life been improved? Bird, Duke, Basie, Dodds, Cecil, Ornette, Rollins, Miles, etc have done that for me. Tiger? Is his play that important to you? Don't mean that as a challenge but a serious question.
  22. Just buy one. Listen. Worry later.
  23. Witnessed an amazing Paul/Edward exchange in the early '70s. On stage, Paul cried and Duke embraced him. More later if anyone wants it. I think I have an audio tape of it.
  24. How do you mean that. Those might be fightin' words.
