  1. Delete his account. Oops, I see he's gone.
  2. Volume 4 is a hardcover - thinner paper and 210 pages vs 304 in vol 5.
  3. I have volumes 1 - 8 but will not sell. Anything you need scanned is another question.
  4. I first experienced them on vinyl in the '60s, then in the Mosaic lp box, then the first cds, the complete BN box, the RVGs and this -
  5. Those can be found in this RVG -
  6. Allan Jaffe, John Hicks, Mark Dresser & Pheeroan Aklaff.
  7. It must be something you said. Those records were produced by my friend Bob Porter. I remember him at a NAIRD convention, walking around with a Walk Man offering new Lester Young solos to anyone willing to put the headphones on.
  8. Shortly after getting I burned 4 cdrs of the master takes 1927-34 - 89 wonderful miniatures. The first 23 down tonight, Black and Tan Fantasy through to Harlemania.
  9. Interesting. I really like that band.
  10. The k stands for Koester.
  11. Didn't know he was still alive. Don't know about the negative stuff, but my dealings with him were honorable.
  12. Rummaging through this fascinating box, again.
  13. Bob told me about this. I believe it had some relationship with Selmer musical instruments. I know there were some Erroll Garner sides on Selmer in the '40s.
  14. My favorite Sinfoniettas are Ancerl and Horenstein. The Horenstein version is slow and gloomy - I asked him about that (in 1969) and he said something like "This is patriotic music and must be interpreted according to the times".
  15. With Joe Newman, Bill Harris, Hal McKusick, Freddie Greene, Oscar Pettiford and Jo Jones.
  16. Discs 1 & 3 duplicate the same discs in the 4 disc set. The 2nd disc is drawn from discs 2 & 4.
