  1. I had the mono lp originally. That went to pay for the AE set. The McMaster is more than interesting (not useless) but would love an RVG reissue. So much negativity about "mastering", so little discussion about the music.
  2. I prefer the SteepleChases to the Premonitions (as a group). No electric piano.
  3. Guess that's the price you pay for being an "individual".
  4. Those would be my choices too.
  5. Rick used to post here too. Say goodnight Gracie.
  6. No way to reflect category "drift". I have joined a new grouping since the poll started.
  7. Looks like more Schaap crap. My original (Columbia CL 1445, mono, 6 eye) plays the same as the "master" on the current cd.
  8. Very sad news. She was a lovely lady. My prayers for Sam.
  9. Going from "faint" memory but this might be one of the BNs with a catalog printed on the back. Don't remember notes. Maybe Larry Kart could help.
  10. That would be dandy. Just don't expect me to strap some sticks on.
  11. Everybody please stop whining. We have had over 2 and a half feet in the last 10 days. I shoveled about 6" this morning and we expect another 6" overnight. Weather channel says it will be like this for 4 more days. Did I mention it has been around 20 degrees all day. Gotta admit it's better than zero and lots of wind.
  12. I think many, if not all, of the Byg reissues (of US titles) were dubbed from vinyl. I know the Delmarks they reissued were on the market before Delmark could send them the tapes.
  13. Just burned a disc for Ann's car. Thanks.
  14. Doesn't he play keyboards on the Letterman show?
  15. GregN intorduces useless facts. We don't need stuff like that in a thread like this. Bones, Schmones. Let us all have our fantasy scenes.
  16. Also worth searching out is "My Heart In My Hands", Columbia CS 9563. This is some sort of ultimate "male torch song" record. One of my favorites on the record is "Eight Million Stories (in the Naked City)". Happy endings are few.
  17. Only if you can make money by hiding your product.
  18. There's a "rainy day" recommendation.
  19. 1. Eugene Chadbourne is an interesting musician. 2. His "review" is obviously copped (out of context) from some other source. The reference to Byg, etc should be a tip off. 3. Just another way AMG messes up the world. Paul is a fascinating pianist. I'm sure you will get a bunch of good recommendations.
  20. Funny you should mention this. I was about to mention Snurdy McGurdy, not because it is one of mine but because it continues to make me happy.
  21. Welcome CPC. You still live in CT?
  22. The Tjader track is from a Verve lp called Along Comes Cal. Only 2 tracks of the record are live. -Along comes Cal- : Cal Tjader (vib) Al Zulaica (p) Stan Gilbert (b) Carl Burnett (d) Ray Barretto (cga) "El Matador", San Francisco, Ca., January 1967 101982 Los bandidos Verve V8671, 519812-2, 531562-2 102482 Samba do suenho - Verve does have another live date in the can: -Saturday night/Sunday night at The Blackhawk- : Cal Tjader Quartet : Cal Tjader (vib) Lonnie Hewitt (p) Freddy Schreiber (b) Johnny Rae (d) "The Blackhawk", San Francisco, January 27-28, 1962 Summertime Verve V8459 222 time - Noonie's groove - This can't be love - Stablemates - Weep - Fred's ahead - Stompin' at the Savoy - Soft touch (unissued) Carnival (unissued) Note : Entire session except unissued on Verve V6-8459. Bobby Scott made about 20 lps as a pianist and/or singer between 1953 and 1990. Very interesting character.
  23. I see Max as "THE other guy" on this recording. I see Mingus as the"outfoxed" guy on this recording. I see Dukie as the MF.
